3 drops equates to roughly 0.2ml. 80% of that, assuming that is the alcohol content is ~0.16ml. 10%, again assuming that is the max peppermint oil content is ~0.02ml. The user claims to have used a Smok V8 which is a 5ml tank.
Many flavourings we use contain alcohol. Just finished a 12 flavour at 15% recipe – 3 flavourings that I was able to find info on contained 3, 50 and 20% alcohol. With one of those containing 10% oil extract from the fruit. Can’t be bothered doing to the math but quick analysis tells me that those 3 flavours combined contain more alcohol than what was consumed by the Reddit user…or so he claims. And I chuck clouds – in my social circles I am referred to as “Punk, the cloud chucker, in Drublic”!
Quick Google shows back in the day many have tried flavour extract in their e-juice, including McCormicks Peppermint. They claimed it did not vape well, but none reported trips to the ER.
What I find bizarre with this story is given the hype and controversy surrounding vaping and lung damage, why would any physician just claim a reaction, give the patient a lollypop and send him/her home without extensive tests. Especially after a second visit. Not a single mention of a chest x-ray.
