Hi all,

Totally Wicked Red Label American Red tobacco has the flavours I like in it (tobacco, caramel etc.) but they are really weak. Do you guys mainly DIY from scratch or add flavours to an already "ok" pre-mixed flavour?

I was thinking of maybe adding 1ml Ethyl Maltol and 1ml vanilla to my 10ml ART. Would this be a good idea to boost sweetness and give it another flavour note or will the vanilla mute everything?

I know there's only one way to find out. Just wondering if I'm on the right track. Also, how does the ART compare to the Patriot RY4.. Are they a completely different taste?

People usually DIY from scratch, but there is nothing wrong with trying to punch up a premade liquid.

I think 10% EM would be way too much, vanilla might be too depending on the one you use. I think either way you would be better off trying it in a smaller batch so you don't waste as much if doesn't turn out good.

The flavors you describe in ART is a typical ry4, tobacco, caramel, and vanilla. But i haven't tried either of those.

From what I've read, ethyl maltol is used primarily to smooth out a normally harsh flavor, or to help blend several flavors together and may have the opposite effect of what you're wanting. I have had some success with adding premade (one flavor) to premade (a different flavor). Haven't tried adding "flavor" to premade though as I do DIY now and am happy (for the most part) with what I'm making.
