Keeping up with flavors is important. It is good to use the search option on this board as well as taking a peek at the flavor reviews buried in another part of this forum. Thanks Cookster for the TPA mint candy tip. Maybe my 5% Mint Candy mix with 10% Xtreme Ice from FW (and 2% koolata) + 5 drops oba oba + 1 drop of menthol won't be a failure. I'll know in 1 week when he tries that mixture.

For my own amusement I hope it results in a wide-eye icey cool kissing husband....

Sounds pretty good to me :)

I started vaping almost a year ago .. And been reading here a bit longer. What made me switch some premade juices were not always the same taste and some juices just didn't live up to the what I was expecting for flavor. After reading for a long while I decided to give it a try. I was a bit dissapointed at first, that it wasn't working out so well, but didn't give up. I picked it up again ... But all the juice I make now is just wonderfull and like I want it

Pros
----

1: you can make it yourself
2: you can finetune it to your needs/likes
3: you are not dependant on a supplier having stock of your favorite juices
4: you can make whatever juice/flavors you want
5: if someone decides to ban ejuice/ecigarettes, you already know how to handle it

and last : it can be cheaper (see my cons also)

Cons
-----

1: getting a flavor good for you can be quite costly (like if you buy all fruit flavor X from all vendors)
2: it is not as easy at it seems sometimes, due to the time you have to put in (I do not mind)
3: you got to have patience and not to expect everything will be great from day 1

The cons list is not a really cons list, but more like the downside you know upfront. For me DIY and messing around with rebuildables is more and more becoming a hobby. I haven't made a non vapeable juice in ages now. And everything that I make these days turns up at least OK. I just like fiddling with stuff and trying stuff out. I am a programmer and build software, this is just another thing. Nothing more satisfying then mixing and finding the uber mix or the sweet spot for all the flavors

For the cheaper part ... yes and no, since I have been ordering flavors all over the world, and got around 70-80 flavors and experiment alot, I have some goto juices, but I vape alot of different things. But if you for instance like fruit flavor Y from vendor B, and that's the only thing you want to vape, yes, it's only a fraction of the normal cost. If you are more the adventurous type, not so

All this is based on my own opinion, and might not be the case for other people. I know I am futureproof, will never go back to an analog and will keep on vaping and have some fun doing it

thats what worries me - I know I can go whole hog into anything! I learned to spin and dye wool because "it was cheaper" and it was for the types of yarn I wanted.
but - one little adventure with a spindle ($29) turned into a hubby costing me thousands! I "reinvent the wheel" just about every time I get my head into something.

How `bout this. Do you want to keep spending $1 per ml for premade juice that may or may not be 100% what you love.
`course you may make a dud evey now and again but by far you will make more successes than duds. Plus that FDA thing has me saving 2 jars of backup nic in a nice cool closet for when the apocalypse comes down. They say want to put 1 ml as 1 pack of smokes and tax us accordingly. Problem is, there are so many of US (DIYers, juice vendors, hardware vendors) implementing the vaping apocalypse is probably eaiser said then done.

You can control that urge, just.. try to limit yourself to a few flavors a month, or a set $ per month on flavors. Try to mix only what you can vape in a month, and the next month do the same thing. You don't HAVE to go crazy.

I enjoy DIYing. In between making juice and my more recent endeavor into rebuildable attys, vaping has become as much a hobby as the original intent of simply satisfying a nicotine addiction. I'm also one of those people who goes whole hog into things that I become interested in. I've been DIYing for nearly 1 1/2 years; and yes, I've wasted some money, by buying several flavors that I simply don't like; and by not being aware, at first, of where to get supplies at the best price. But, over time, the results have been worth the effort, not only cost wise; but quality wise, as well.

Can you share your favorite vendors for flavors, vg, pg and nic? And maybe the flavors to avoid. I just tried LorAnns cola and was not pleased at all. Do you know of a good place to buy bottles? Thanks

I'm looking to get into the DIY scene, too. I started one thread asking about [flavoring] oils, and was told NOT to use oils because they are dangerous. If oils aren't used for flavoring, what IS used?

It is not oil per say, for the most part. If you are concerned, what you want to avoid is the "insoluble in water".
