DIY question...

I've been mixing my own e-liquid for the longest time, and have always used the purest vodka I could find to cut the vg with. But using alcohol really screws with my throat - always itchy, always have to eat candy or drink coffee to keep from coughing, always dry, etc - and I notice a huge difference when vaping e-liquid that's not cut with alcohol. Now, I know that PG/VG work to dehydrate your throat and such but when I don't use alcohol, the problem isn't anywhere near as severe. The problem with not using alcohol though is that my e-liquid is far too thick. I prefer vg over pg so not using vg isn't an option.

Anyway, on to my question... I know you can use distilled water to cut your e-liquid with, but I've no idea where to get it where I live; so I was wondering if I could substitute distilled water for bottled water (like aquafina and such)?

You should be able to find distilled water at any large grocery or drug store. Its most common home use is to fill steam irons.

That said (and this is just my opinion), using bottled water is probably okay if you're using cartomizers as you won't have the carto long enough for minerals from the bottled water to foul the atomizer coil in the carto. On the other hand if you're using a separate atomizer with cartridges or tanks where you expect the atomizer to last for months using bottled water probably isn't a great idea because the minerals from the water will deposit on the atomizer coil.

Hope this helps -

Aquafina is made using reverse osmosis, ultra violet and ozone purification and should be as good as distilled water. Here is the wiki page Aquafina - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Just don't use Dasani as that has added minerals.

I am a vinyl record fan and frequent vinyl related forums. Some of us use DIY cleaning fluids , others use commercial fluids. Most rinse the vinyl with distilled water or Aquafina due to the lack of mineral deposits left behind. I have found no one is as fanatical about their water as vinyl buffs.

Trust me , Aquafina is fine.

Thanks for the info guys. As it turns out, the water we use for our daughters milk is labeled as 'Distilled Drinking Water' so I'm assuming this is ok to use. If it's just for the mineral build-up and such causing problems though, I think I'll be ok as I only use my DCT at the moment and will be switching over to using the Vivi Nova with SS Mesh once my package arrives; so needless to say, I won't be using any 1 atomizer for extended periods of time.

Thanks again for the info.
