I know its possible to not steep a liquid for long enough time... but is it possible to steep it for too long?? Trying a little experiment as we speak... so far we are on day 2 in the ultra sonic steeper

I kind of wondered if it would mix, then separate again....

When the Ultra Craze first hit, I rushed out and Bought one. I tested it using 2 Identical batches of my Favorite Recipe.

One I put in a Cool Dark place Undisturbed, like I Always do, for 4 Days. The Other I Ultra Sounded. They Both tasted the Same.

I have Tried Many Combinations of Cap On, Cap Off, Warm Water, Hot Water, Cold Water, Blue Bottles, Green Bottles, Ultra Sound point North. You Name it. I've Tried it.

For me, Nothing Tasted Better than just Letting an e-Liquid sit, Undisturbed, for 4~5 Days. So being an Inherently Lazy Person, I couldn't justify the Time, Effort, Cost of using an Ultra Sound.

But that is Just My Experience. And YMMV.

I live by the KISS Principle. Nothing simplier than shaking with your hand and if it needs a little time putting it in the cupboard (most of my mixes, I just shake and vape). I think people are really overthinking this mixing and steeping thing. It's like it's going to taste better if you add degree of difficulty.

Cheers,
Steve

I personally don't steep any juice, shake and vape is all. To me, it looses flavor. I like it fresh.

Just Curious: Do you find that the Flavor "Falls Off" from when you first Make it to a Couple of days later?

The Reason I ask is Because when you think about, every hour that goes by after an e-Liquid is Mixed, it is Steeping on it's own.

And unless you make Very Small Batches and then Vape them Entirely in a Very Short Period of Time, there Isn't really a way to Stop an e-Liquid from Steeping.

It's kinda what it Was/Is.

Just like the Soda Straw Craze. Or the Blue Foam Craze. Or the Cotton Craze. Or the SS Craze. Or the Paint Shaker Craze. Or the ______ Craze.

They Come. And they Go. Some are Better than Others. But they All Share one thing in Common. They Burn Brightly like a passing Comet. And then Fade away when the Next Crazy Hits.

I'm personally thinking about doing a Thread about How Great Rock Tumbler Mixing Works. Just to see if it Catches On.

Well, if anyone decides they steep best in the tropics, on the beach, next to a huge margarita, let me know. I'll go test that theory.

That makes me think of when I was living in Arizona (Mesa). If you wanted to heat steep (which I don't) all you had to do was put the juice on the patio. Instant 120F.

Cheers,
Steve

To me the flavor really starts to fall off after a couple of days. Thus I make only 5 to 15ml bottles. I enjoy mixing flavors, so I don't mind doing it every day or so.

Everyone has their own way of doing things, that's what makes us individuals. Just don't over think it and have fun. :)

lol, I lived near Cave Creek. If you leave it in your car, it will boil....lol. Outside on the patio is best. :)

That Makes sense to me.

Because to me, there is a Definite Flavor Change in the first Couple of Days. I happen to like the Direction the Change is going. So I just let it Happen.

But for someone like yourself, making Small Batches is the Best Thing.

If you left it on the dashboard in the sun, the glass bottle would melt

PS Cave Creek is a very nice area, but if I go back I want to live in Sedona (It's too hot for my liking during Summer in the Valley).

Cheers,
Steve

This is just a wild shot in the dark guess ... The flavor may be 'falling off' because of chemistry. The molecules are bonding, sharing their atoms of oxygen, carbon, etc, and becoming larger, longer chains of molecules of 'something else'. The true test of a mixes taste is when there are no atoms left to share and any additional chemical bonding stops. The result will be a thicker juice due to the larger, longer chains of molecules, and may not taste the same as when you started, because its not the same as when you started.

As far as the steeping debate goes, good mixing gets things closer together, and any heat just speeds up the chemical reactions. Its done when its done. Simple as that. There's no magic bullet imo.

I mix my own juices and usually vape immediately. If the flavor has an alcohol taste I put the glass bottle of juice, without the lid, in a pot of water, bring to a boil for about 10 minutes, take out of water and let cool. If not in a hurry, I just leave the lid off the bottle overnight. Like already said, is ready when you think it's ready.
