Diy usb passthrough help

I was going to try and make a usb pass through and had an old mouse layin around i was goina use the cord on but when i took it apart there was 4 different cords do i need a speacial type of usb cord or is there any how to's

You can probably use the cord. Just use a multimeter to see which wires are hot. One should be positive, one negative, and the other two are probably used to carry data.
