So I started DIY-ing this week. It has been interesting. The first thing I made was a caramel-vanilla-banana concoction that is, to me, okay. Then I made a sweet, gooey vanilla caramel confection for a friend at work. I tried it and I liked it a little better than the first one.

Here's what is funny. I have the second one to my friend and he texted me later that day and told me he hoped I remembered how I made it because it is his favorite flavor ever. Weird, but cool.

Then, earlier today my 19 year old came over and was picking up my various tanks and trying them (he is a sometimes-smoker-arrrgh-worst-mother-ever) and he tried one and was like, "this is so awesome, it tastes like my dreams. buy me some of this."

I looked, and you guessed it. It was the first flavor I made. Anyone have that happen? You think the flavors you made are just okay but other people absolutely love them?

I'm going to have to work on making something *I* love.

Yes, I make stuff for my son. One he really loved, vaped it all day until a co-worker complained. Now that's he's been forced to use a different e-liquid at work, he says the one he loved "doesn't taste the same". It's the same recipe but I wish I hadn't made him 100ml of it.
I've got a few different ones for me that I'm happy with. Oddly enough, most of them have tobacco aspect that I hated when I first quit cigs.

I was working on a specific cigar taste once when a friend came over. The experiment I had tasted terrible to me. He tried it and told me it needed a hint of vanilla. I dosed it with vanilla and he asked if he could get a bottle of it. I made him a bottle of that mistake cigar with vanilla and he called me a few days later saying he had already given it all away to some vapers he knew and wanted another bottle for himself.

Sometimes there's no accounting for taste... (Yes, I still make that recipe for him and I still think it is terrible.)

Very true that taste is so subjective. It just cracks me up- you would think that I would be able to make something that I love, knowing myself as well as I do. I made a watermelon recipe tonight, vaping down a tank I have til it's empty and then trying that. It tastes pretty good in my dripping atty, but most everything does in that, haha.
