The difference here is that Evolv created an entire mod and is offering the entire mod design to the public. This isn't just the board design. So if you wanted you could make your own complete mod with their reference design.
Oops, now I get it.. Haven't looked into that link yet [emoji4]

ETA: too bad Viacad 9 is apparently not capable of opening the main case file.. Just most of the individual parts, and of course not the just released solidworks format. Grrrr, I'd have liked to see what the case looks like

You could DL the free Autodesk 123D Design program and open the STEP files. They will work fine and allow you to modify the design however you want. Very easy to use program too. Then you can output as an STL to use with pretty much any computer controlled machines you want, including 3D printers.

Since the announcement of the VS DNA200, I've been anxious for its release. I've received 2 emails since the announcement and got all excited until I opened it and found it's just another juice line they're carrying. That's just wrong! :grr:

I feel your anxiety bro. Every time I see a VS email I break out the cc from my wallet then loosen my typing fingers up. I only have their beta version :(

rounding third and heading home...
I think Evolve may have woken up and realized that YiHi was eating their lunch.

I own a Hana V4d DNA40 and an SX Mini M-Class. I'm always torn because the SX350j is incredibly customizable, flexible and has been problem free. Evolve had proof of concept with the DNA40, but YiHi refined what it could be.

That being said, my DNA still provides a better vape (when the resistance is set right). It is more predictable and the TC is less intrusive. It is just in the user interface and some of the functions that the Evolve feels rough around the edges compared to the SX.

If Evolve can really come out with a high wattage board that combines their famously reliable power delivery with the feature set of YiHi they will again be top dog. But half measures wont cut it. They are going to need more than higher wattages to take back the crown.

Ultimately, we all benefit. What an exciting time to vape!

evolv will always have a place at the table, but yihi will always have a bigger plate- yihi is more likely to provide your ideal board before evolv and their 's will be upgradeable, something evolv will never do. i will take a 350j over a dna40 anytime...and i am not alone...

Peter, isn't the DNA200 software upgradeable?

I think you have that backwards. There are WAY more DNA40 devices than SX350j devices. The DNA200 is not only software upgradeable but fully customizable. And they speak english so they put out pretty good tech papers on their chips. They also back up their products unlike Yihi who refers you to a partner for warranty work and charges you for labor.

I have 6 DNA40 mods and 2 SX350j mods and I think the DNA40 is a much better chip. It's doesn't rattlesnake or buzz. It doesn't change settings on me. I don't have to set the resistance. If I had to choose only one mod, I would take my 8 month old Vaporshark rDNA40 (version 1, gasp!).

Really fan boy, just look at the boards from the DNA 20 to 30, 40 and 300 you can see they have progressively invested on their production and now using much smaller surface mount components to keep the quality high and the form factor small, look at the inductors they always use as opposed to those untidy massive things the cheap skates lashed up on the YiHis that make them use a lot more space. But the most important thing is how they work and having owned both ther in no contest by a long chalk IMO, plus the Evolvs are much cheaper and actually have customer service & a warranty after you fit the board. Don't get me started on pfm, the Forest Gump way of temp limiting, YiHi were good once to give Evolv some competition but they haven't ever pushed the envelope other than more watts.

Sorry Mods for a sniping post, but it ticks me off and neither company are by any means perfect, but Evolve are at least putting some effort in.

Energy doesn't equal heat, bud.

Do you know what energy is?

While heat often creates, or is a byproduct, it is unnecessary in electrical fields. Only parts of high resistance materials, and where current ratings are exceeded, are where you'll find heat.

Do you know what heat is? I don't think you do.

Heat does equal a temperature...and it also equals issues in many, many cases.

Do you know the difference in temperature and heat?

Temperature is directly equal to heat.

No, it's not. It's a common mistake lots of people make, but temperature and heat are not the same thing.

Heat = energy (measured in Joules).

Temperature = the average amount of heat or energy in a system (measured in degrees).

You might ask: how does that make temperature different from heat? Well, an analogy will suffice. Imagine you have a swimming pool and a cup of water. Now imagine you stick a thermometer into both and you find they both read 75F. They have the same temperature. However, they do not have the same amount of heat (energy). The swimming pool will have a much larger amount of heat (energy) because it is a much larger volume with a lot more molecules colliding (which is what heat is on the microscopic scale). But it will still have the same temperature as the cup of water. How can this be? Because temperature is a measure of the average, not the total. If you put a heating element into the pool and put 50 Joules (measure of heat) to it, the pool's temperature change probably wont be detectable. However, put that same 50 Joules to a cup of water, and you will notice a drastic increase in temperature.

If temperature did indeed equal total heat, then we wouldn't be able to vape some of the builds we do. Ask yourself why a 0.1 ohm build at 100 watts is vapable while a 1.0 ohm build at 30 watts might not be? If temperature = total heat, then the 100 watt build should never be vapable when compared to the 30 watt build. After all, watts is a direct measure of heat (technically it's a measure of power, but power is just joules per second and joules is the measure of heat. Just keep in mind that the more power (watts) the more heat).

So, why does a 100 watt vape not get as hot as 30 watts on a cheap clearo? Well, the answer, of course, is because temperature and heat are not the same. You can have a lot of heat in a system (100 watt vaping) without a massive increase in temperature because the 100 watt build will have a coil designed to handle it (a larger volume of coiling area with a lot more total heat, but a much lower average heat). So even though the 100 watts is giving off far more heat than a 30 watt build, it is entirely possible that the 30 watt coil will have a much higher temperature.

This is also why the formaldehyde studies (one which was published in NEJM) are flawed. The scientists do not understand basic thermodynamics (because they put an arbitrary voltage that was "safe" and "unsafe" when in reality it is not that simple). This is understandable since physics probably wasn't the formal training of scientists who do such studies (they are probably M.D.s).

But don't take my word for it. Google has a lot of good resources. Like this. And this. And this. And this.

Energy is the charge/Voltage...your last post supports my statements..this is an electrical regulator.

Thinking of wattage/second=joule=how many calories?

Edit-and I don't want to download any documents.
Editedit- Thinking about this logic:
A 120 Volt 200 Ohm circuit is high heat, low heat...
But a 12 Volt 0.2 Ohm circuit is low heat, high heat... but I need to get in back in bed, to make better use of my heat.

When did the DNA300 come out? lol The SX350 and DNA200 are nearly the identical size

Yay thermodynamics! Good analogy, couldn't have said it better myself. I'm studying geological engineering with a minor in chemical engineering.

With my budget (or lack there of), I'd be tickled with either. Both have shown a high level of accuracy, both are very good boards. People will prefer one over the other for various reasons, but that doesn't detract from the other.

The mod I wanna buy will be able to swap and use both, plus new boards coming out. No reason to join any camp!

You seem to have missed the part where I posted temperature was a measurement of heat and that your beginning post on the subject wasn't clear. I didn't say temperature was energy, but that it was equal to (as in measurement of) the amount of heat present. By your info post, temp is more equal to the heat then the energy creating the heat, seeing how the same amount of energy, applied to different coil mass, will create different amounts of heat...ergo different temperature. But the temperature lets you know how much heat is present, not how much energy, therefore temp = heat. :p
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.
