How do you tell the 800hz gives better vaping performance by using an oscilloscope? Does an o-scope vape? Does a readout show up on the 'scope that says THIS VAPES BETTER?
What this line of pro-Provari argument ignores is thermodynamics of the coil itself which operates as an analog device. The coil does not switch instantaneously between a heated and cold state 37 or 800 times per second. Rather, a coil heats and cools over time and smooths the effect of pulsed DC used in PWM devices.
If you buy this line of argument against the effect of PWM on heating coils used in vaping then you must accept the fact that a $20 mechanical mod like a Bolt by Smoktech is going to provide far superior vapor than a Provari. The Bolt eliminates the pulsed DC entirely providing a pure DC output to the coil.
wow lol how did you guys end up talking about provari? lol
i think the nivel chip is going to be hard to find, i know svoe mesto doesnt even list it anymore, so that pretty much leaves just the 20, in the modders forum you can see lots of people using the 20 with decent results.

Use a Provari for a day and you would feel the difference.
As to the mech mod argument yes you are correct in that pure dc voltage works better but getting the correct wattage makes the difference in that with a mech you have to wrap your coil to a certain impedance to achieve the correct balance. Also bare in mind that even if you do get the balance correct the voltage decreases as the battery is depleted decreasing the wattage therefore reducing vapor output. The mech mod is very dependent on skill knowledge and above all patience to achieve that perfect balance. A vv or vw device reduces the need to get the coil or balance perfect to produce a certain effect. All three systems have their benefits as well as their detriments, it's all about how much work do you want to put into vaping. Personally I find the provari with a rebuildable a very happy medium as well as the DNA20 mod I just picked up with a ZAU.
Zmax circuit is breaking ground, too. MV had 45 but sold out. I'll be trying that circuit next. The Nivel is only cost-effective for the pre-soldered leads. If you can solder to a through-hole PCB, save the money. Configure the buttons for your comfort with the 20.
