DNA charging board, are there any compatible 1amp boards?

I've been planning on getting a Hana V3, but discovered fasttech sells basically the same enclosure for $20. I'm thinking about saving myself some cash and getting that and a real Evolve board, but hate that their charger is only .5 amp. It takes a long time to charge my AW 2000mah 18650's on my xtar when set at .5a, but only 90 min (or so) when set at 1a. I can therefore only assume that it would take forever to charge a 2600mah VTC5, which is the battery I would put in the mod. So I'm wondering is there a 1a charger board out there that is safe, good quality, and has the micro-USB so that it will fit the enclosures port as is? Also, I'm wondering if charging at that rate will affect the dna chip in any way?

The 1 amp board has larger dimensions than the .5, might not fit into a hana enclosure. The charger connection on the dna board is simply a hookup to the batteries.

Awesome, thanks! I was just looking through some other posts and discovered other aluminum enclosures are even cheaper. I might have to rethink the enclosure. The Hana style enclosure is awesome, but I'm pretty sure it won't fit the fire button I want to use (16mm with blue "angel eye" led). I'm just a bit apprehensive about the enclosures that don't have the ports already cut. I only have a dremel and hand drill. I'm not sure I could cut/port the box without making it look like an elementary school remedial shop class project... But might be worth it to try and get the exact mod I want...

i covered my remedial shop class work using the shapeways cradles.

Even with jonniemac's cradles, I'm afraid I'd end up with a horrible over-cut somewhere, or crooked cuts. I could probably do it, but when it comes to stuff like this I'm a perfectionist. Wouldn't be a problem if I had a TIG setup lol. That's what I love about welding, if you cut too much you can always fill it in and start over lol...

I was worried about that as well. like many, i used painters tape to cover the mod, made my measurement marks on it and then drilled a few pilot holes quite a ways from the outer edge and then used small finishing files to SLOWLY (sometimes felt too slow lol) open up the hole. As you are doing it just keep attempting to put whatever you need the hole for in place to see where you need to file next as well as rechecking center (or wherever you wanted it placed) to make sure you don't over file in one direction.

I to have a dremel as well but the chance of over cutting is increased

Yours was the thread that made me consider using another enclosure. I followed your link for the enclosure you used and was floored by the price. I figured a box of aluminum would be much more costly, considering the price of the FT Hanna style enclosure and jonniemac's plastic boxes. Got me thinkin that I wouldn't have to make any compromises on the parts I want to use...

Not to discourage you, more of an education - The only downside i see in using the hammond box (or the one i used) is that the bottom of the box is slightly smaller than the top which makes the mod slant a little when standing on its smallest side. Myself and everyone else that made mods out of these boxes haven't minded but figured I'd throw that info out in case you didn't notice

TY for the props, I'm glad it has been received so well.. I was stressing a little about making it but the work was well worth it and the vape is amazing.

Good heads up, I hadn't noticed that. I don't think that'd be a deal breaker, but it is something to consider. As long as it is stable when standing up it should be all good...

The tp4056 is not that fast of a charger even @1amp its really only 850mA at highest setting for many, some do make it to 1 amp not all of them. It has a trickle charge CV stage that takes forever. I had mine charging batts @850mA took ~20 mins less than charging @540mA not a big deal. Use your xtar when you want a faster charge..

I read everything I could on chargers and they all state all good chargers charging properly take at least 3 hours heating and cooling the batts. 500mA chargers will have your batteries lasting forever, planning with a backup and/or extra batts is the better strategy..

It is recommended that you do not charge thru the dna but direct to your batts the traces on the dna have been known to fail..

I am probably doing the same as you for the case but buying the mod clone already built.. That new v3 unit is perfect sized and the board has been reworked some aussies and uk peeps say its finally a 1:1 clone working fantastic. Then when and if that fails dropping in an evolv dna. Its a good deal since it comes with a 35A efest..
