I made a Vamo mod a while ago and I really liked the pistol grip shape so I decided to try my hand at the DNA20 in a similar style.

The Vamo mod. (Sapele and brass)

The bit I'm not happy with, sawdust between the screen and glass. Also untidy veneer around the glass. :(
I decided I'd sand out the battery tube after completion, as my SenyBor 3100 protected batteries were a bit tight. Bad move to blow the dust out rather than using a vacuum cleanner.

Real nice Vapant, the mod, the lines, the attention to detail, everything. How are you keeping the two halves together and how do the brass caps attach? I'd also be curious to know what tools you did this on. :)

Thanks :)
The two halves are glued together with PVA and the end caps are epoxied on with pins for strength. If anything goes wrong it would mean destroying one half to get at the insides unfortunately. My next one will have a brass face plate for the screen and +- buttons to attach to which whould mean easier entry into the mod should anything go wrong.

I started with a piece of 3/4" board and cut three 3/4" and one 1" holes in line.

I cut a rectangle out of a piece of 3/4" ply to hold one half steady whilst routing.

The battery door was made from some Brass conduit plugs which I epoxied into the base cap.

The rest I whittled, filed and sanded to shape.

My next one with a face plate.

poland, and the brassy lands of google
Very clever, especially drilling the finger slots like you did. The brass caps are epoxied in place too then? You guys are fortunate to have the conduit plugs like those, I would be stuck with massive plugs and no female threaded rings readily available... Something with sink faucet aerators, but not so nice looking as straight brass.

Did you see this? The Trigger

No, I've not seen that before, thanks :)
I like the trigger fire button but I'm not a fan of the top, it could be a little front heavy with a tank on it.
Also it looks unfinished with the plasma marks still on the metal parts. Overall a nice shape though.
Oh to have a CNC router :)
