I have seen far more people commenting with working boards than I have with problem boards, so to say, "I'm sure there are many good boards out there doing what they are supposed to do, but it seems to me there are even more that are not.", does not seem to be supported, then factor in that satisfied people are just using their device and not saying anything. I received the first batch shipped out by VS and it works great. The nickel wire has been problematic, but that is to be expected, we have not used nickel wire like this. I have it figured out for my use and it works just as well as a common kanthal wire.
I don't know where you are reading all these so post, but from what I read not only on here but many other places, and from where I set it just the opposite if not equal.
Yes Ni200 can be an issue, but Ni200 is not causing this This.jpg on 3 boards in a row or hundreds, even had I gotten good board the second time I'd still stick by my opinion that it's just not ready for mainstream production use.
Had it been a 1 in 1000 that's one thing but it's not I really don't know what the failure rate is, but it's much greater than 1 in 1000, unless myself and many others end up being that 1 in 1000 multiple times back to back, that's go and pull whatever is next on the shelf ship it out without testing it and hope for the best, that's not good customer service.

I just wasted 16 minutes watching the Ellis rant. He did a lot of complaining but never said what the problem was. Well I guess with his background he should produce his own board. He hates it but he loves it. What a joke.
His ranting and rambling aside he does have a valid point in that this given an otherwise reputable, innovative American company a black eye for not doing more extensive testing, and not insuring their quality control, by repeatedly letting glitching boards out the door.

Well that's not what I got from him. He likes it as a 40 watt board but hates the temp control. Ok fine it's not his thing. I can understand that but to bash the beta testers and go on that Evolv is stupid and don't know what they are doing? That sounded more like someone holding a grudge. Yes there have been some bad boards. But there has also been some QC problems with some of the mods the boards were in. I'm sure that Evolv and the mod makers are doing the best they can to correct the problems. But saying they knowing did it is just wrong. I don't have a DNA40 because I've only have the my DNA30 for about 6 months and I don't collect mods. I'll get or build a DNA40 at some point. As long as Evolv and the mod builders continue to work to fix the problems Ill give them the benefit the doubt. Evolv will survive this and be better for it.

I know that's not the way things are these days. No matter how many attaboys you have one "Oh Crap" will destroy you in the eyes of some. I don't think that way because nothing in life is perfect and people make mistakes.

People make mistakes all the time, hell I made one once, it's not that they have made a mistake it's the way you handle what happens next. Evolv has handled this badly and they will have to live with the fall out, yes some will avoid them totally because of this and I can't blame them I will wait and see what happens next though. Was thinking of getting a board, but won't just now and depending how things go will decide if I bother.

Had I bought my DNA40 from a vender or a DNA40 mod from a vender and got a bad one, I'd have just thought it was just the luck of the draw, even if the replacement was hosed I'd then thought well they got a bad batch, but all of my boards came directly from Evolv no middle man well other than the DNA40 round 1 co-op but there again they came direct from Evolv, and my replacements came directly from Evolv so it's only logical to come to the conclusion that the fault clearly lays at Evolv.
As much as I want to see Evolv succeed, and become the best in the business, not ensuring your customers are receiving quality tested products, not just once but multiple times is not a good way to do business.

The "DNA 40, NR, Nickel Builds" in the coil builds section. There have been a number of people in there trying to figure out the best builds, with far less reporting glitches.

I get your point, and I can understand your frustration with Evolv, and I agree that they likely pushed this out before they should have, probably before they even wanted to. The DNA 30 was still relatively new and I seriously doubt they needed the next big thing to stay in business. I think they did it because they have a better understanding of the impending FDA regulations and they know this needs to get out the the users as quickly as possible. Brandon gives a bit of insight into this in his interview with Phil. Over heating our coils and over heating our juice, all the rage right now, are on the top of the FDA's issues with vaping, according to him, which I tend to believe. Could Evolv have taken extra steps to ensure you received properly functioning boards after you needed to return what you initially received, yes, and they should have, but Evolv has a proven track record of quality and while I'm sure they have hit a bump with the new tech, they will work it out. Once the dust settles, there will likely be very few stories like yours, but it is going to take a bit of time for the dust to settle. I think they have earned a bit of respect and patience.

I've had 5 bad boards and 4 perfect boards... And another perfect board on the way... The problems they've been having are sorted now... Talk with your wallet and don't buy one... I for one will continue to enjoy temp protection ... Just don't go slinging insults at the beta testers

One last thing... The errors you've been experiencing i have experienced too on a good board in my diy box... It was a bad ground... Resanded the ground area and then tinned my ground wire... Cranked the ground down really really tight onto my ground screw... Then epoxied the screw so it would move... No problems now... Remember the shorter the ground wire the better

Also all the mods work perfect in kanthal mode... The very least u have a 40 watts kanthal with step down and reverse battery protection for the same price u would have for a dna 30

thanks weird willie for this thread ive wrote and deleted 3 times cause i dont have the ****s you do. but i do believe that evolve and the beta testers FAILED big time

The board works, temperature protection works, the flaws were in production and the MOD builders, how did Evolv fail big time? How did the beta testers fail big time, their boards worked?

Being a beta tester doesn't mean you are required to take your own time and teach the masses how to use whatever you were testing. What exactly is wrong with running them over 20 watts? I run my rDNA at 25 watts and it works fine. The beta testers had functioning boards, again, the problems with the DNA board were on the board, not in the programing, so how exactly would the beta testers know there would be future production issues?

I'm guessing we will see videos in time, I'm sure they are trying to perfect their techniques before they recommend what we should be doing. Many people here have been doing this for a month and still having quite figured it out. The people we look to for advice don't want to put information out there they haven't completely figured out themselves, or at the very least have a firm grip on it.

not all of them worked some had boards that failed evolve knew this and released them anyways

Evolv didn't knowingly send out faulty boards, I'm sure it is pretty crazy there right now, which isn't an excuse, but with so much going on the likelihood of mistakes is amplified. Evolv has been around for a while and is known for their quality, this isn't some new company with no history to base an opinion on. Mistakes happened, they will correct them and more than likely not make the same ones again.

You still fail to see the meaning of this post, You're a fan boy your past and/or current experience with Evolv has been acceptable to you and in your eyes no harm no foul, I get that, but in truth you hope the one on the way is a perfect board, you are like everyone else you don't know until you power it and fire it for a while.
Your fanboy loyalty and wishful thinking has blinded you to the fact that you should have never received 5 bad boards in the first place, which is the point of this thread.

I want the DNA40 to work, I want Evolv to be the top dog in the industry, I want to sing their praises but the truth is the truth and if people get their feeling hurt oh well but I'm going to tell it like it is and the truth is to date Evolv has dropped the ball on both QC and QA when it comes to the DNA40.
As much as I want to believe in Evolv, sadly one of the following has to be happening over there.

A. They are knowingly shipping out glitching boards
B. Their manufacturing process is not as consistent as they hope it would be, and QC and QA are failing to catch the issue,
C.the hardware components and/or firmware are failing after the fact (still fall back to beta, QA and QC testing being rushed)
D.the hardware components and/or firmware are simply not capable of consistent performance and needs to go completely back to the drawing board.
Since the problem was first identified Evolv should have been operational testing every single board before it left out, and continue until such time the issue has been completely resolved in what ever it is, and never let 2, 3, 4 or 5 substandard boards fall into anyone's hands especially during an RMA.

Nope it's been fired and tested before its being sent back as per my request ... I bought those 5 boards on the first weekend... 3 of them were a screen glitch... 2 of them were my fault (bad grounding which lead to shorts, and one of those lead to a ribbon tear) I just didn't know it yet

All my issues have been resolved by them in a timely manner ... For now I'm a happy camper and my nickel builds are working great! Temp protection is also working perfectly especially with my genesis mods!

As of now I have more bugs with my iPhone than my dna 40 mods
