Yeah I def agree. There is absolutely no reason that you would need to clean a regular carto before you use it, and I def wouldnt dry burn it bc that does nothing but risk ruining it. An atty is different and should have the nasty primer blown out, then primed, etc when it is new, but a carto is ready to go right out of the package. The only thing I do before I fill/use a new carto is check it with a multimeter to make sure its not a DOA and to see what ohm the carto is really at.
Doing that isnt necessary to do either, but since I use Ressurectors, which hold alot of juice, Id rather check it first to make sure its good, instead of filling it and then finding out its dead, and wasting over 2ml of good juice.
I use an E-Power which handles the Ressurectors with no problem bc their 1.7ohm which isnt super low, but for someone that uses the really low ohm cartos, checking what ohm the carto is actually at is def not a bad idea.
I feel like some people just figure a carto's ohm is what the vendor states that it is, but unfortunately thats not true at all. Some cartos are pretty consistant and generally are what they are supposed to be, but then there are also some cartos that are more likely than others to occasionally be alittle off. I find the Ressurectors are almost always dead on at the stated 1.7ohms they should be, but its not 100% of the time. Generally all cartos have the possiblility to be +/- .2ohms. Alot of cartos will state that on the box or the vendor will say that on their website, but I still feel like some people just figure that every carto they use is the ohm that they were told it is.
Thats why I dnt recommend people that use eGos to use 1.5ohm cartos. A 1.5ohm carto already puts a lot of stress on the eGo mosfet and can potentially fry a battery. If one of the cartos isnt 1.5ohms and is actually running at around 1.3ohms, then your basically asking to kill your eGo bc thats way to low for what the eGo can handle.
Its the same thing for people that use Rivas, kGos, E-Powers, etc that use 1.25ohm cartos. If one is really at around 1.05ohms then you are seriously risking ruining your PV. When you use real low ohm attys/cartos that the PV your using can just barely handle, your already walking a fine line. That .2ohm potential varience, could be what pushes the PV over the edge and kills it. Also an atty/cartos ohms can drop slightly after youve been using it for awhile so that could push the PV over the edge as well.
Thats why its just safer to use something alittle higher that the PV can handle easier bc then if the ohms is alittle off, or it drops slightly with use, your not as likely to kill your PV.
So thats the other reason I check my cartos with before I use them, and also check them again after about a week of use, and I recommend that anyone else that uses low ohm cartos to do the same.
Always checking them before youfill and use it gives you the chance of catching an atty or carto that potentially could have killed you battery bc it wasnt the stated ohm and also could save you some juice because youll realize if you have a DOA BEFORE you fill it.
Cleaning a carto before using it is also not necessary. I find that some cartos do not work as well after a cleaning so why potentially affect your cartos performance when you havent even used it yet. I dont ever even clean my used cartos bc I get 2-4 weeks avg on one Ressurector, so I feel Im already fully getting my moneys worth without cleaning, and since its possible the carto wont work as well after, I just dont bother.
Some people do clean cartos though and its okay to clean a used carto that is clogged or not working well bc then if it doesnt work great after a cleaning its not a big deal bc it was already clogged and not hitting well anyway, and sometime you will be able to get alittle more use out of a carto you clean.
The biggest thing you have to do with a new carto is just make sure you fill it right! The first fill is very important and can help the carto last longer and lessens the chance you will get that burnt taste and ruin it right away. I always use a syringe for the first fill becuase the cartos I use hold a lot of juice and it ensures they are always filled correctly, but using a syringe is not the only way to fill and other people have good success with other methods
