Do atomizers die in storage? About nine months ago I bought several 510LR atomizers in a sale and most of them have been ok from what I remember. I set them aside for several months while using tanks and cartomizers. I decided I should use them up before buying anything else and one worked ok. The next one got a blow out and about twenty seconds of dry burn and didn't really work at all. I blew out another and started using it without a dry burn, but it is acting like a week old atomizer already. The 901s I stocked up on at the same time had a similar high rate of failure. Or, rather, just never breaking in and coming to life.

So do they just die after several months in storage? Or am I just unlucky here?

That certainly has not been my experience, but then I only have regular 510 attys, primarily Joyes. I have some that are two years old, still new in the package, and they fire up just fine, like new. Perhaps yours would have died early anyway, as in they were from a faulty lot. But again, I can only speak to my experience with Joyes, which I bought for their quality and longer lifetimes.

I personally would not be doing 20 second dry burns with LR attys. Even regular resistance attys I do not go more than 5 seconds. LRs rarely last as long as regular attys anyway, so how you are using them could be a factor here too.

there isn't anything in the atomizer that would make them die from non use (with the possible exception being if they weren't sealed, then perhaps dirt/grime settled in there). as kurt said, they were most likely faulty from the beginning.

i've purchased some batches that, months later, had a high rate of failure. but i also have batches even older that have no issues. so my money is on the former.
