Do boge cartomizers tend to slip too far up on a tank system?

I'm just about to order my second tank ever, and I'm interested in trying boge, primarily to see if there's a difference in the way the draw feels. However, I've noticed that my smoktech cartos have a little ridge on the bottom that keep the tank from getting pushed too far down and off the cartomizer, and causing liquid to go all over. From pictures, it looks like boge cartos don't have these. So do you just kind of eyeball where in the tank the holes should be and hope that the tank doesn't slip down off the cartomizer, or am I missing something?

Once the tank / carto has been screwed on to your PV it can't really go anywhere anyway.
I used a tight fitting wide base drip tip to stop myself accidently pulling the tank off the carto. Took me months to get in the habit of lifting up my PV and not lifting it by the tank !
I have to say that since i started using glass tanks the fit is so tight that the tank is never going to slip off. Takes a good old yank to move it now.

I have no problem with my unflanged. In fact i like them better, when time to switch carts you can just push the old one out with the new one from the bottom(which means you can replace a carto in a full tank). Typically your mod will prevent the tank from sliding one way, and your drip tip will prevent it from sliding the other. Its not big deal if your top drip tip is thin though, once the tank has been on for an hour it gets kind of stuck where it is, and requires a little pressure to move it

A tank sliding on the cartomizer is a function of the tank, not the carto. Sounds like you have been using a Smoktech DCT which was made to promote their flanged cartos. Most other carto tanks have O-rings in them that are up to the task.

I'm with Max, and have been using J-tanks from ENS. Mine are now two years old, and have paid for themselves many times over with the number of cartos that I didn't let go dry and ruin.

    I use these tanks

    and these cartos

I recently received an 'X8' carto/tank from fasttech and it has a little screw at the bottom that prevents the carto from sliding.

(I have no opinion on the tank itself since I haven't used it yet but I would think that at least some tanks have similar screws.)

Don't need a screw if the right O-rings are used.
