All this is well and good but what legitimate scientist is going to mine data from a bunch of jokers in an on-line forum and come to any conclusions based on what they post? Might be interesting undergraduate work but certainly nobody with a PhD after their name!

Actually, I think there's a post on ECF about a 'study' conducted by some 'intellectuals' (not sure if they have a Phd though) using data mined from ECF to prove the health dangers of e-cigarettes. God forbid they should actually look for anything positive...

Why conduct a study? They could just survey the members of this forum :)

I would be interesting to see a long term study of the health of smokers vs. vapers who have never smoked.

In the mean time, my personal study of my lungs not being clogged up any more, my breath being cinnamonny fresh instead of reminding my wife of an ashtray and my clothes not stinking is study enough for me.

I bet that was fun to watch. :D

Yes. I started vaping by chance. Complete accident. A fellow co-worker smoker showed up one day with a disposable and I was fascinated that it actually looked like he was exhaling smoke. I tried it out. Within about 6 weeks I stopped a pack-a-day habit without much effort. Close to two years cigarette-free. Vaping is a lifesaver for me.

They helped me quit! I think you have to want to quit. Some analog users don't enjoy this. I loved it from the first toot!

/\ That. I tried quitting by switching to vaping about a year ago, but TBH, I think vaping just me want analogs MORE. :(

But TBH, I'm honestly tired of 1) the MONEY I spend on analogs, 2) the SMELL, and 3) being so out-of-shape and whatnot from the health problems associated with SMOKING, so I'm gonna try giving vaping a chance again in hopes that maybe this time they'll help. :D

Gonna go with a bigger/STRONGER batt this time, so maybe that'll make a significant difference in my experience. :D

That article links to BecomeAnEX which walks and quacks like an ANTZ duck—extremely contemptuous of e-cigs. Nicorette and Genentech, no friends of vaping, are BecomeAnEX's partners.

While the BecomeAnEX link isn't direct it might be worth considering breaking the Scientific American link that does have a direct link. Supporting an ANTZ organization with ECF's Google credibility, even with an indirect link, makes me a bit uncomfortable.

I'm an accidental quitter too though I don't yet have two years (or technically two months yet). Still, just cannot imagine going back. Can't figure out what I ever saw in those things. Which is weird to catch myself thinking. I smoked for actual decades. Decades!

(I also don't care for being able to talk about my adult life in terms of "decades", when did THAT happen?)

But the "accidentally quit" stories are my favorites. Whoops! I quit smoking! What happened? :)

I had just bought a carton the day I bought my first disposable. Didn't open it. Then returned it. Told the lady at the counter, "Uh... apparently I'm quitting smoking?"

Didn't tell any family for around two weeks. It was so surreal. I kinda wondered if I was having a weird dream or had just gone off my rocker and was hallucinating. :)
