Smoking is accompanied by a certain satisfaction be it from the nicotine or the routine involved, once you quit you always miss something that other conventional methods of quitting don't really address in the long term, vaping fills a hole left by analogues so much so that after 7 years smoke free i went to vaping and felt the satisfaction i had craved for a very long time and i still cannot stand or stomach the smell of cigarettes.

Feeling that thick plume fill your throat certainly has a satisfaction connected to it, i missed it most after a few drinks.

I started under age smoking when I was 14 and got up to 2 packs epety a day when I was 21 and kept that pace till 26. When I first started vaping I would smoke a cigarette after. At first it tasted okay but about a month into that routine I hated the taste of the cigarette that I like so many years back. Now I can't even finish a cigarette. I went from 18mg to 12 to 6 now. My fruity and candy flavor juices help me cut back immensely on my sugar intake as well. Plus since I stopped smoking analogs I have been able to pick up running again which I have tried to do on analogs but can barely last 1/4 mile without be so light headed I couldn't continue.

excellent point about cutting back on sugar as another benefit! I never realized this until you pointed it out! :) I eat WAY LESS candy now than I did when I smoked.

All this is well and good but what legitimate scientist is going to mine data from a bunch of jokers in an on-line forum and come to any conclusions based on what they post? Might be interesting undergraduate work but certainly nobody with a PhD after their name!

Well, least they'd have fun while doing it?

And this is just one corner of the vaping world. A big one but not the only one...

That would be a biased study. More people that succeed would hang around. Many of those that failed are not likely to hang around.

RickAppling...me thinks that you have a negative attitude towards vaping! We need to remedy this :D You should be happy, joyful, giddy even that you are not smoking those things anymore. I think that we should give Rick here a huge group hug, it will do one of two things, either we will make him positive and happy or he will run away squealing at all us vaping maniacs roflmao

Having not read the article, I will offer the following:

I was a tobacco smoker for some 30 plus years. E-cigs allowed me to quit smoking during the very first day. Moving forward, everything taste better, everything smells better, I don't carry the odor of an ash tray on my person nor my clothing, my family and friends are pleased that I quit the analogs, I do not hack up a lung, in a manner of speaking, in the morning, etc.

To sum it up . . . Yes, not only did e-cigs help me quit cigarettes, they afford me a healthier and more productive life style.

True. On the other hand, any number of those who are successful could wander off as well. Once you get settled in, have your vendors, your kit, and know the liquids you like, maybe you run out of things to chat about and get on with it? I can see folk drifting off for both reasons.

But, yeah, it's kind of a "self-selecting" bias going on here.

Still, something's up. Lot of activity, lot of success stories. And not the, "ohgawdiwannacig" kind of white knuckle thing I saw in all the "cessation" programs...

A hug would be nice. But I would not be here if I didn't think vaping had some advantages. It is just that part of my job is the collection and analysis of data. And by the way I never smoked so do not have much to offer on this subject. But I do hope it helps. I would like to see more people quit smoking. Especially my wife.
