I'm 43, smoked for about 25 years. So, I fit right into the demographic Rosa cited.

I'll say one thing, and because I live in a very rural area, I find this quite interesting. It seems that the 18 year-old group that has either managed to begin smoking before the age of 18 despite the law, and those who have never smoked and never will, are flocking to vaping. Hooka bars are becoming very popular in the small metro areas here, and my kids (all 18+) see other kids vaping there all of the time. The coolest bit of info is that the majority of the kids are vaping 0 nic. They like the flavors, and they like the "looks" of the PVs.

Both of my daughters (21 and 18) are asking for little KR808s to take to the hooka bar instead of smoking the hooka when they hang out with their friends. I'm more than willing to allow it (even though they're old enough to decide for themselves, they asked if I'd be okay with it), especially since they aren't interested in using juice with nicotine.

I bet in the next few years we'll be finding that vaping is going to become a recreational thing for young adults, and if they stick to the no nic juices, maybe the cycle of nicotine addiction will be lessened somewhat.

BTW ... just to make sure I'm being clear: The hooka bars that exist here are 18+, ID at the door, no alcohol, no drugs allowed. It's the modern version of the 50's teen diner, I suppose. Much better than the 80's "teen clubs", for sure.

Hey Phreaker - just when I'm vapin with the gang at work in the smokin section all the women ask me about it and want to try it right off, the guys are hesitant. If they have a question they'll call me later when we are back at our desks or slide me an email. They just seem all hush-hush about it and they won't try it in front of anyone. Mine is real plain, almost analog in size and all white. Lots of my girlfriends already vaping, only known 2 guys out of 20 that have bought their own. Thanks for writing me back.

Lol, that's simply the male psyche. NO guy likes to say "I don't know.", and asking you questions in front of everybody, particularly work peers, is saying just that. It's much easier for them to read and do research on a subject than to embarrass themselves in a group setting.

Seems like guys are less interested in e-cigs right off the bat. Is there any truth to that? Or is it just middle age guys who have been smokin analogs for 30 years that don't show interest in these things? Just a newbie observation...

Right off the bat, I was interested, and I didn't know a single person who vaped. Heck, I didn't even know the word "vape" as it pertains to what I now do daily.
I was about to retire and just knew I would be smoking even more with all the new time on my hands. I quit a 40+ years smoking habit on vape day 2..TWO. I also did NOT want to vape with some dang thing that looked just like what I was trying to quit, a cigarette. That was the last thing I wanted. To vape on a wanna-be cigarette looking thing. I wanted to quit smoking, not look like I was still smoking. What sense would that make?
It's been over 3 months and I am still amazed at how easy it was. I had tried every conceivably known RX prescribed method to quit, only to waste every cent I spent. With vaping, day TWO was the start of a much healthier life. My body thanks me every day, as does family, friends, and my dog.:)
Lastly, I did it all without buying 12 mods and 8 small battery jobs. I am currently using my Buzz and see no reason or need for anything else. I sure didn't want to spend beaucoup bucks for a mod to just turn around and spend even more on another, and another, and another.
I intended to save money by not smoking $6+ packs of cigarettes, not spend more money buying $100+ mods again and again. To each their own. I'm not going to fault anyone who does. I spent my life defending your rights, not fighting against them.
I will be forever grateful to ECF and it's members for teaching me what I needed to know to "wisely" make my choices and buying smart. :thumb: :vapor:

I just think it feels neat to be somewhat in on the ground floor of something for the 1st time in my life lol. Considering how into technology everyone is id figure that younger people would be all about this.

I have a plain white cig-style pv, I don't need to compensate for anything by having some super powered mod lol.

I don't know. Most people who come here are interested in vaping. I do think it seems like more males than females are interested in cranking up the experience with the hottest parts, the highest voltage, the biggest mod etc.

That has nothing to do with male/female and everything to do with MUCH better and more consistent performance from the better battery PV's. Plus I've noticed quite a few females who have larger battery PV's. The future of PV's is definitely variable volt not weak battery ones that look like an analog.

I'm right there with you, Rosco. The last thing I want is for people to think I still smoke or that I am pretending to smoke. I kicked that bad habit and don't ever want to be confused with still doing it. Plus I want a PV that works well, has a good throat hit and is consistent. You aren't going to get that with a weak battery PV.

I'm a 50-year old guy, smoked 3 packs a day for 38 years and now live in a very small southern town. All my buddies run around in camo and workboots and smoke and dip. I catch hell for my ecigs all the time, but don't really care. I educate anyone who's willing to listen. I laughed my .... off the first time I saw an ecig, but 2 months later I bought my first one. And a couple of my buddies are starting to get the idea. Don't give up and just get a bit thicker skin...keep doing what you know is right and they'll come around eventually or at least hopefully cut you some slack! LOL! Good luck!!

I've actually noticed the opposite - when I'm vaping it seems like more guys are interested than girls. I'm 24, and usually people who ask about my pv are in the 20's-30's age range. Sometimes older people look at me suspiciously; I think they are under the impression that I'm smoking "other stuff". It does seem like people who have been smokers for a long time express more interest than others.

I'm 31 and smoked for 10 years. I finished my last cigarette this afternoon. Yesterday afternoon, technically, since it's about 1:30am here.

I don't think that it's necessarily a technology issue with guys. Maybe more of an ego thing. My brother-in-law is very skeptical about it. He's one of those rugged mechanic types. It seems to me that guys don't want to be involved in something that other guys think is somehow wimpy, like you'd be less of a man because you can't handle "real tobacco" or something. Guys can be bullies, even if unintentionally. In all the time I've been watching this forum without registering, I've seen it happen even here.

Some women can be devious and catty. They may ask questions to gain "ammunition" rather than information.

Men , on the other hand, are often more concerned with other things while face to face with the opposite sex.

Interesting observations and the best of luck to you.
