that is very interesting, thanks for sharing that!
i never would have thought anyone would go to a hooka bar and want 0 nic!

The first time my 21 year-old went, they told her that there was no nicotine in the tobacco that they used for hers. She got sick as a dog, even though she smoked very little of it. I think she said they offer three kinds: unwashed, washed, and an herbal mix (supposed to have no nicotine - and no, it's not "wacky" or anything like that). All kinds of flavors. I'm not sure what that amounts to in analogs, or if it compares in any way to the nicotine or substances in analogs. I'm thinking she may have gotten sick from the smoke of the other hookahs.

When my twins turned 18, my eldest daughter and her fiance' took them to the hookah bar for their birthday. My son tried it, hated it. My other daughter wouldn't try it because she was afraid to. So, they hung out with their friends, had a good time, and saw a good number of kids vaping, including the owner of the hookah bar. (When I say "kids", I'm talking anyone under the age of 30. I'm an old lady. LOL!) That's how I learned about e-Cigs - from my kids. :)

I asked my daughter today if she felt there were more boys than girls who vaped, and she said the only difference she could see is that the boys stuck with black or silver PVs and the girls liked the colors. One girl had hers tricked out with rhinestones.

Add to list of potential market ideas..."tricked-out" e-cigs (yes I've see them personalized by the owner before).

Thanks Grey!

My brother fears using his PV at work--not because of the embarssment--but because of the convenience: he's afraid of being able to use it at whim on a job. I tried to explaining to him he could use it in the same manner as an analog, but, being a creature of habit, that is just a setup to failure (that I do understand). Why replace the ritual with something that, in this case, is certainly not as convenient as lighting up a smoke (yes, yes...I know the reasons, but it doesn't change his mindset).

As for myself...all it took was one blistery-cold night and a couple of trips to the porch before I took my friend's supplementary eGo in hand...I ordered my own that evening.

I love it.

Hooka bars are becoming very popular in the small metro areas here, and my kids (all 18+) see other kids vaping there all of the time. The coolest bit of info is that the majority of the kids are vaping 0 nic. They like the flavors, and they like the "looks" of the PVs.

Both of my daughters (21 and 18) are asking for little KR808s to take to the hooka bar instead of smoking the hooka when they hang out with their friends. I'm more than willing to allow it (even though they're old enough to decide for themselves, they asked if I'd be okay with it), especially since they aren't interested in using juice with nicotine.

hooka bars--tell me more haven't seen in this in the SF Bay area--although i don't get out much...is this for real?

Or you could "bedazzle" your e-cig.... (they also have e-cig charms, carto-skins(?), and other odd things to do with your smallerish PV's- actually I like their "Flavor Bands" idea, but I'm betting I can duplicate the purpose of them cheaper... or maybe not.)

Well, having just made the switch to vaping, it is still pretty fresh in my mind. The first time I heard of e-cigs was an ad on public radio. I remember thinking that it sounded "hokey" and that I wrote it off as a money making scam. I just could not believe that it could be anything that would even slightly resemble "the real thing" and that I wasn't going to waste $100 for something that so obviously had to be a scam.

I just kept running into the radio commercials and (probably since I am a man) had already decided that I wasn't going to go down that road. In hindsight, it is really odd that I didn't even bother to surf it up on the internet. I'm constantly on my laptop and often surf up the most random topics on a whim.

Months and months later, my wife (who was also a analog smoker) came home one night and said she wanted to try e-cigs. We had talked about quitting many times and she simply didn't think she could do it. She had tried the prescription pill (I can't remember what it is called anymore) and patches and I had tried the gum. All had not even come close to working for us. I remember spending about 10 minutes discouraging her from wasting the money. Again (maybe because I'm a stubborn man), I had just decided that it was all a bunch of crap.

Anyways, after she went to bed that night, I got on the computer and started surfing. I ran into forums and vendors galore and started to realize just how much momentum that this industry had. It occurred to me that this many people weren't likely being fooled and the enthusiasm that I was encountering got me to open my mind and start doing some serious reading and thinking.

The next night, my wife and I settled on an NJoy Npro and put in an order for a kit each. I remember wondering, while we waited for them to arrive, whether or not I had just wasted more money on another doomed attempt to get stinky stick (my wife's nickname for analogs) free.

Well the NPro's finally arrived. I really wasn't all that impressed with the experience. I could not fathom where all that enthusiasm I had encountered came from. But, they did get us off the analogs. However, I can remember the feeling that it was just a "barely acceptable" substitute. A means to an end (no more smoking). There was something missing and I did not know what that something was.... until I got on the net again and read deeper.

To me there is a difference between these imitation cigs and what I now view as the "real deal". I have now found a KR808D (my out and about unit) and a Mod (my at home indulgence) that have filled in that "hole" for me. There simply is no comparison between the NPro and these two delivery systems. I am not even considering the flavor issue here (which should definitely be considered by someone contemplating the purchase of a new device). Just the vapor and "feel" of each drag is a whole new experience.

So to get a bit more back on topic. God bless you women and your ability to open up the minds of us stubborn, prejudging males. My wife gets total credit for helping me to make a change that will probably add many years to our lives. You ladies keep setting us straight and maybe someday we'll all get to see the end of world hunger, disease, and war.

I imagine if it's here in TX, it came from Cali or NY. We've got a couple hookah bars.
It's not the same material we smoked from hookahs when I was young (well, not me... but...)
It's heavily flavored (cased) tobacco or herbal mixtures. Disposable plastic hose-tips so cooties don't get spread.
New marketing. OLD idea :)

When all the kids get hooked on tobacco shisha in their hookahs, I'm gonna invent the E-Hookah!

Yep! I do remember a few years back that hookah bars were being raided in New York City when they were being set up because it was assumed that they were using illegal drugs. Now, I do believe you can open one with proper licensing and inspections. Here in PA, they are legal for anyone over the age of 18.

Problem is that the person is still getting the chemicals from the burning tobacco. While the water is supposed to "purify" the smoke from the tobacco, there still remains the chemicals put into the growing of the tobacco in the first place being burned and not removed.

So, while hookah and vaping are similar, they are not the same at all.

Funny that you mentioned that. My wife and I bought our first PV (Njoy Npro) because it was more of a prepackaged (not a lot of knowledge and DIY involved). My thought was that I wanted something that I could just puff on when I got a craving. It has been a very disappointing device. I afraid that the most satisfying PV's are simply the ones that you can personalize a bit more, at least. The NPro Cartridges taste like crap and you really have to fire them up to get any kind of TH and Vapor out of them. This typically results in overheating the carto's and further ruining the taste.

So much for something easy that looks like a stinky stick. I bought a Prodigy V3.1 and now I have the true vaping experience at my disposal.

I'm 28 and have only been vapeing for 3 weeks, but I've already converted 3 analog users to PVs. All of them were middle age male co-workers.

Sure, but are you a male or female?

From my experience men are far more likely to take gadget advice from other men, not from the ladies.

Depends on the color of lipstick...

Give us a chance. Nothing is more of a turn-on than a wicked-smart woman.
I walk the earth seeking the woman who can beat me at chess, and play the violin.
I'd spend the rest of my days cooking for her, rubbing her feet, and composing REALLY bad haiku for her

I know down here they're using women in bars to introduce guys to e-cigs. You know, that new marketing style, that doesn't look like marketing, but really is. Some type of guerrilla marketing. Where they get a bunch of attractive young folks to go into a bar and start drinking certain boozes, and getting other people to drink the same booze.
They were doing that with e-cigs. My ex-wife was exposed to e-cigs that way. (she worked in a bar for the $$, but she was a fantastic botanist, a capable engineer, a genius mathematician, and... she was just plain cool :) )
