Sorry, I know this post is off topic sort of, but since the OP resolved his issue, I figured I'd just say my peace :)

I don't get how people want to spend a few hundred to a few thousand dollars on an e-cig device. You can get a sturdy, strong, well-built, well-designed, and perfectly functioning and long lasting device for under $100. I DO get that some people are willing to pay more for the designs you put on them, or using more rare metals, like gold, but I don't get the price people are willing to pay.

I'm not knocking anyone....people do this with just about everything. I also don't understand why anyone would need a $50 million mansion for just THEMSELVES, but some people do it..

I'm all for luxury items....within REASON. I , just like anyone else, admire top end products.....but there is a point of dimishing returns, and I think some of the excess is just....too much

Some of it is simply wanting something american made (or whatever your home country is) some of it I can't explain, you have to try some of these devices to ever really get it. Not saying the $70 mod from china isn't a good one (may or may not be) but over 90% of the time it will not hold its own against a high end device.

And cost wise if you save back even half of what you save not buying cigs, you can easily afford one within a couple months. So some then get a higher end device as a reward to themselves for actually quitting.

So if you're not intending to ever sell these (I assume you wouldn't expect OTHER people to buy from you either, like you would never buy from other individuals), then what's the point of "collecting" these "authentic mods"?

Ego? Bragging Rights? Pathological Hording?

Because it's obviously NOT because you see them as an "investment" that will appreciate in value. For an investment to be of value, you have to eventually SELL it, after all.

Just sayin'... ;-)

Your winky face at the end confuses me, the tone of your post sounds totally serious, I was going to respond with, "some people just like authentics. " but now I don't know whether you were serious or not 0.O...

I think it depends on your disposable income. :)

For me, I have 5 devices: 2 Provaries, and 3 authentic mechs. The mechs were all made in SoCal (where I live) and the Provaris are made in WA state and also almost entirely made in USA. Some of my toppers are from By Leo in Greece; it's a small company, mostly just a guy and his dad. I like the idea of supporting the little guy and small businesses that make quality products rather than Chinese sweatshops. I'm not rolling in money but my cash flow is enough that I can make that choice. The Koi is out of my price range but I really love the aesthetics of it; but not enough that I'd buy a clone.

Of my 3 mechs, one I didn't pay for (won it in a giveaway from Craft Vapery) and two I bought used here on the classifieds since the originals were hard to find. So I guess it could be argued that I'm still not supporting the original manufacturers - but neither am I supporting the clone industry, so I consider it a wash. :)
