Actually, I do believe you have to charge it a bit (but I believe they are pre-charged from the get go). The one I got with my kit (from Cignot) did have a battery that acts like a power buffer that is always charging as you use it.

That said: I could not wait and only let mine charge for like 20 minutes before using it. That was enough and all was well. So I say, go for it, but if it seems a bit weak or something just give it some time with minimal vaping until it works better.

Edit: An after thought. I unplug mine from my PC any time my PC is not actually on and charging. I figure it will probably sort of back-draw power and lose charge if I don't. Anyone know if that is accurate or just paranoid?

Most batteries come with some form of a charge on them, li-ion batteries do not have a memory feature so it is safe to use them so long as they do have a charge. With the passthrough plugged in it is charging and the passthrough opperates on the battery, not the straight voltage from the USB port. And the battery is charged in turn from the usb port.

The passthroughs that do not have a battery are mostly 5 volt while the ones that have a battery box are 3.7 volt.

Sorry to hear about the sharing, I have done that before and it is very nice of you to let it happen :)

Hope that gives you a bit of information.

If you have the funds Id recommend NOT using your PC but getting a wall adapter - much safer for your PC :)
Madvapes sell them - I think cignot do as well but the madvapes ones can take a higher charge so you can use them with a 5v PT.
Also be careful not to run over your PT cables with your chair - I have killed at least 2 PTs doing that /sigh.
