First off, let me say, in all seriousness, I don't give a .... about personal safety. If my hand blows off, fine. But I DO care, if my mod blows up. That's NOT fine. But I bought an aw IMR 18650 battery for my trustfire tr-001 charger to use in my maxi roughstack until my saber gets here. After the light turned green, the ....ing spring on the negative end turned orange-hot and the atty didn't fire. Scorched the bottom of the battery. The switch was sort of messed up, but I definitely had standard Li-ion batteries short [NEVER like this! they just stopped working] before. Is it the charger? or is it the crappy roughstack? Seriously, Dawrin's quick-caption review of the maxi rough stack: "Piece of ..... F -"

This has gotten me in a terribly sad mood. I'm just going to go to sleep. I have nothing to vape. I'm smoking my wifes cigarettes in the meantime. It's so discouraging to see all of my equipment fail in one day.

Do you have a voltage meter? If so, I would suggest checking the battery once it comes off the charger. A 3.7 battery should register between 4.1 and 4.2 once it comes off. If it is any higher, get rid of the charger!!!

Also though, roughstacks are known to have been known to have problems with the switch. A defective switch could infact have something to do with it.

You are so right. I didn't know this was posted in Vapor Moon. I've had many of those chargers go defective in the past 3 years. If you batts get really hot during charging, that means that the charger is putting out more than 4.2v at a given time. And it should not take more than 3 hours for any battery, from my experience with them.

Well, I think the charger might be ....ed. But it's a brand new charger? Well, bought a roughstack last october. Used it for a month, then the 2 18650 batteries I bought for that stopped working at the same time, assumed it was the switch, and stopped. But now this 18650 ....ting itself too? I charged tenergy LiFePo4 batteries not four hours prior AND USED THEM with no issue.

So, what should I do?

Have you spoken to either who you bought it from or the manufacturer? Either way I would be buying a new one. If it were me I would probably go on to amazon and buy the Pila charger and pay a little extra for next day delivery. At least amazon takes care of you if problems occur and take returns with out hassles. The also sell the xtar I got, and the good IMR Aw batts. I wish I would have noticed that before. I hope someone hops in here and helps you out. This IS an emergency, Help him.

I would say a new charger is in need here. But I would honestly invest in a simple multi meter!! It could save you a whole lot of headaches in the world of mods!! Myself, I just got one out of the bargain bins at the local hardware store for $5. It don't need to be fancy, just function. I also agree with anavid here about the Pila, it's all I'll use. I figure safty is worth the few extra bucks. I have been using my Pila for over a year now, charging at least 2 batteries every day without any Issue.
