Do you need a new mod? If it's still working then no you don't. It seems like you really want something new and different though. A new MOD can make a huge difference in how much better of a vape you can get, with lower voltage drop and harder hits and increased TH. But, it also depends on the MOD itself and how it is designed and machined and the materials used. I have 7 mechs but only 2 are authentic and they all hit different, I actually have them lined up from weakest hitting to hardest hitting. Other than a mod what affects a vape good or bad is your build like you said, but also airflow from the RDA or RTA, and the posts and contact metal used for the 510 connection and also your drip tip which most people don't know.

then the only thing left is to up my nic level? ive gotten a head buzz a few times and i honestly miss that from smoking. id get such a rush i couldnt walk straight.

High nicotine levels and sub ohm dripping while trying to chase clouds isn't going to be a nice vape.
You're a rare kind of vapor, I vaped 24-36 mg on a non-rebuildable tank and couldn't even drip 6 mg, I stay with 3 mg and I'm on a constant nic buzz.
With the right gear and build and battery and a good inhale technique, you can.
There are many other chemicals in cigarette smoke besides nicotine that give you that head buzz, you will probably make yourself sick before you are able to replicate that first morning cigarette buzz.
