Everyone is telling me I'm going to get addicted because they have flavored juices...
Okay, that is
hilarious.
It's not the nicotine ya gotta watch out for, it's the cherry and vanilla! That's what gets ya!!! Next, you'll be gettin' the shakes for... ICE CREAM!!!!!!
Listen, "too much" is a very personal thing. Lot of variables. If you overdo it, you'll know. Too much nicotine causes headaches, nausea, such things. It's not pleasant. If you're not having some kind of physical distress, no, you're not doing "too much".
Best I understand the nicotine thing is those of us who get hooked on the stuff become used to having some level of nicotine circulating in our bloodstreams all the time. When it drops too low, we get cravings. Which is why heavy smokers like I was went straight for the cigarettes first thing even before the coffee.
In vaping, the absorption of the nic is primarily in the mouth and nasal passages. Which is a slower process than via the lungs with smoke (smoke in the lungs can deliver nic to the brain in quite literally seconds, within about ten generally). When people first switch, they're not used to "regulating" their nicotine with this new thing. Their habits are geared for a whole other "delivery system". I haven't been at ECF all that long but have seen new person after new person after new person worry they "vape too much".
When you smoke, you develop habits to regulate your nicotine level and you don't think about it. You just reach for the pack and lighter (or whatever... there is also chewing and dipping and hooka is it?). It becomes a kind of second nature and you don't pay that much attention.
This new thing comes along and your habits have to adjust to it and you
notice it more. We humans "tune out" things we see all the time and notice new things. I can't even honestly compare my vaping to my old smoking habits because I smoked so long, I did it without being all that aware of it. It was just... habitual.
If you get too much nic, you'll have physical symptoms and should adjust your nicotine level downward (tons of options there, all the way down to zero nic if you want).
If you're not having physical signs something is wrong, don't worry about it. Three weeks? You're still settling in. Later you may need to adjust the nic level. I had to start switching to low nic in the evenings, for example, because if I vape over 9mg before bed, I'm wide awake for hours. But, for now, if your current level and amount of liquid is keeping you off smoking, great, keep going!
(Heh. Sorry, I just can't stop chuckling over the "it's the flavors" thing. So, if I pass out candy at Halloween, am I a "pusher"?
