annah, you've been given a lot of great advice in here. My only addition is that if you do decide to get a 510, to get the PCC (portable charging case) along with it. As people have noted, the 510 is a great PV, but the battery life is short. The PCC will allow you to vape with one battery while the other one is charging (and will allow you to carry an extra atomizer and 3 cartridges). Fully charged, the PCC will recharge your 510 batteries 4-5 times, so depending upon your vaping, it could last you a good chunk of the day.

Didn't quit analogs until I got the Jantystick (only needed to charge new battery once a day). I actually found the draw on the 510 a little too easy -- it was like, surprise, you have vapor. With the mods, you just breath in slow, but you can feel the vapor. Throat hit isn't high on my list, but my husband is a 2+ pack per day smoker and lung hit is more what he's looking for :) He was not happy with the 510, but does like the Jantystick ... he's halved the analogs, but still feels something is missing.

Now, the Jantystick is my backup and I use the VP2 -- even better vapor, more throat hit with a long slow draw if you're interested (enough vapor with a shorter draw if you're not). Best IMHO is that the battery lasts me ALL DAY (I was a pack/day smoker).

So ... if you're shy of a modified battery, yes, try the 510 -- but you may end up taking the next step anyway.

Good luck!

For your husband, I would suggest a 5 or 6 volt devices such as the Prodigy or the GG. Best throat hit of all devices.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful advice. I suppose I should have given more info along with my OP.

I would love to have a mod device, but it is totally and completely out of my budget right now. I would just get a battery pack (whatever you call them?)for the 901, except that the draw is my #1 problem- I feel like I'm trying to suck a milkshake through a coffee stirrer. I do love vaping, and have no intentions of giving it up, or going back to analogs. I just have to work within $ constraints, and a cheapo kit is all I can afford right now. Unfortunately probably until after christmas- I've got 3 kids, and 5 neices and nephews to buy gifts for, and my habit falls in a poor second.

So, in the meantime, I'll probably be reading up on the modders forum, and hopefully learn how to make a battery mod for myself for the 510.

Good idea on making a mod. You should be able to make one for about $25. And once you switch to mod rechargeable batteries that cost about $2, you will be saving even more money.

Good Luck

Thanks for the encouragement wv2win. I'm usually pretty handy, although electronics are a bit beyond me. I do at least own a soldering iron, and can do basics.

I will want a standard 510 battery for going out (i HATE people staring at me) so I think a bat mod will be good for around the house. (I don't work, so most of my time is at home anyway). I'm reading the directions for the nicostick now, trying to make sense of them. Thankfully it looks to have been pretty thoroughly discussed. While the terminology is over my head, I at least have a mostly functional knowledge of electronics. (why didn't they teach that in school anyways? sheesh!)

510 starter kit with two atts and two normal batts. Two additional mega-power batteries. Total about $80. Also need polyfill, spring mod and 3 ml glass dropper bottle. Mega-power batts are long--look great in black. All white would probably look even better.

I clean my atomizers daily by soaking them in pure grain alcohol. warning though this will remove the paint so all of my atomizers are now crome ) lots of vapor and it seems to help with consistancy.

Do not use rubbing alchol as it as it is poison. go to the liquor stor and purchase a pint of pure grain I use a sealed container like a pill bottle or baby food jar with a lid. Poor enough alchol to cover the atomizers and let it sit for several hours. When you remove shake off the excess and let air dry for 10 minutes or so.

My automizer life has at least doubled and several of the automizers that I had gave up for dead are now back in service.

I like my 801 a lot-auto battery, haven't tried the manual batteries with it.
I have a 510 my first e cig and its nice, but u have to top up or drip often. Neither one of these do my cheeks get sore-I think they both have an easy draw and make good vapor.
I like the 801 cause I can taste the flavors more-except for RY4, for some reason can't taste that in the 801 and its better in the 510.

I also vote 510, but don't own an 801. With the whistle tips I get a very easy draw, the first few weeks with round carts my cheeks were so sore (I smile a lot, that doesn't help). Whistle tips also seem to make a difference in flavor, much better. Throat hit, in my experience, has more to do with the brand of liquid than the type of e-cig. I can tell the difference between brands, and I believe you can add alcohol to liquid to increase this as well.(just what I've read, haven't gotten around to trying it) Vapor with my 510 is great as of two days ago. It was okay before that, but not great since I got new liquid. I went out and bought some VG to cut my pg and that did the trick. Sometimes more vapor than I would have smoke if I were smoking.
Hope that helps

did my "research" on recomendations, joye 510, 2nd day works like a charm!!! 1.5 packs a day for 40 years, down to two .... logs, second day! woooooooooooot just gotta keep that cart wet, mega batts on the way, should cause some length to my charge regiment, then a passthru is next...........luv this thang

I'm happy for you...some people do listen on this forum :)

BTW, I do the spring mod thing and I've found that the mega-batts are so powerful that for them I need denser packing of polyfill around the spring. Not like the normal batts, where my packing is pretty loose. If I use loose packing for the mega-batts, I get juice my mouth.

Good luck annah -- I've seen a tip somewhere that you can use a small drill bit to open the air hole on the cartridge about twice as wide to improve draw.
