I bought a gal of VG ($13),PG($20), and five 1oz flavors from lorann($30). I ordered some 60mg 120ml nic ($20)and it should be arriving in a couple days.

I did a quick mix to try the stuff out.
5ml PG
4ml VG
1ml cotton candy

Result: no flavor, no throat hit (no nic), sweet taste (from vg i assume), ton of vapor

Into a tank;
1ml vg
1ml pg
1ml strwbry

Result: same as above

Made a similar batch of strwbry + cheesecake, .... results again. I read a couple msgs about steeping. Do i need to do that? How long, one day?

This .... kinda pissin me off, hopefully when my nicoine gets here i'll have little probs cuttin it down and i'll just vape it without flavor ..... But if that gives me probs, then a quick and easy trip to the gas station for a reliable, consistant, full flavored newport might just happen.

Oh, tried a bottle of tutti frutti...nasty, nvr again.

Whe you get 5 posts, please check out the DIY forum and post your question there.

For the first mix... Cotton candy is a really subtle flavor. It's not surprising that you didn't really taste much of anything with that.

For the strawberry, not sure. That's a pretty high concentration of flavor. Some in the DIY forum will say that when you get too much flavor it will mute the taste. Sounds paradoxical, but I've seen it mentioned many times.

Tutti fruitty from Lorann... Yeah, it's gross (IMO).

Majority of freshly made juices need to steep. You can speed the process up by leaving the cap and dripper off. Put your bottle of juice in a cup of hot water and leave it. The heat will blend the flavor faster and so will the air. As for the amount of flavoring your using, you might try a quarter of that amount. Over flavoring will cause flavorloss.

Think you need to do a little more reading before you try DIY.

Your last mix of 1 ml VG, 1 ml PG, 1 ml strawberry, would give you a total flavoring level of 33.3%, I would suggest no more than 10% on this flavor. Better starting lower and then add if you need more. Have a read at this thread it will help a lot. (Its a very long thread). Please be careful with nicotine liquid.

Steep for 2 weeks?! Holy hell, i want to vape now lol.

I tried the 1ml of each cause it was annoyed that i couldnt taste any flavor at 10%.. so the 33% was just a test to see if more would give more flavor... Nope. So i will try closer to 10% again and steep with daily puffs for testing i guess.

I'll go read the info on that link now yves.

Cutting the nicotine doesnt seem hard. 30ml of 60mg ... Add 60ml of vg/pg and i'd have 20mg nic right? Or should i brush up on my math or dl a ejuice calc.

Thanks all. Should get rid of this 5 post thing so i can get serious and make legit questions and comments.

Strongly suggest you get an e juice calculator online and download it.

Definitely get a calculator/recipe builder. Do more research once you can in the DIY section, and ask questions, example being:

30ml of 60mg ... Add 60ml of vg/pg and i'd have 20mg nic right?

You're not accounting for flavour %.

Also, the general rule for starting out is to not use higher than 36mg base, get much higher and you're dealing with toxic levels. Nicotine is readily absorbed through skin contact, you NEED to take precautions. Even if you're playing with less nic strengths, safety is required. You're messing with a highly toxic substance and it's not worth it to cut corners. Gloves, eye protection, having a "clean" station. Treat it like you're working in a lab.

Finally, different flavourings require different %, some brands have different concentrations, and the flavours within brand have their own strengths.

I've not done DIY yet (going to be ordering today though) purely because I wanted to be certain that I had a grasp of what I was getting into.

ed* I'm not trying to steer you clear of DIY with scare tactics or anything, it's just that it's serious business, and not to be taken lightly.

I dl'ed a ejuice calculator, but still waiting for my nic to arrive. Im just going to cut the nic down immediatly around 15-20mg then use that as my nic base when mixing. Does it matter if i use pg, vg, or a mix to dilute the nic?

Oh.. steeping did the trick for my last few batches. A couple days sitting in the closet did the trick. I loaded up a clearomizer and like magic the flavor blew me on my ....

Once i get the nic, ill stop back here and post a thread of my mix before i do it.

Ok couple things here before we keep going lol no lectures but rules are rules, watch the cursing and the drug talk above. Will get you banned sooner or later.
60mg needs to be treated with respect so just make sure you wear at least pair of gloves.

And you mixes should start at 5% and work up anything over 15-20% is way too high wont get you anywhere. If you want TH up you nic levels and pg level, pg adds flavor and th but not much vapor. Vg adds vapor not much throat hit.

I use ejuicemeup calculator from breaktru if u want it google it. Its the easiest ive seen and comes with alot of recipes already loaded.

DIY mixing isn't a hard concept, just pay attention to it and keep trying at it.

If you have questions you can pm me anytime.

EJUICEMEUP is the best calculator, it's free and you can store a default juice recipe that loads when you start it up. Also you can save your recipes for later reference.

A lot of people say steeping, but honestly, if you use a high PG mix you need to steep like 0 seconds. The only reason you ever need to steep is if you use a high VG mix because it's denser and it takes longer to diffuse. One trick you can try to help speed up that process is to put your VG bottle in hot water to warm it up and thin it out a little before you mix it.

Protip: make flavorless juice in like 30mg batches or so and then take out small amounts and experiment with that (i.e. .8mg add .2mg of flavors to get a 1ml batch). That way you aren't making like 5mg batches and wasting juice on a crappy mix. Remember though that if you do this you will be locking in a flavor percentage. If you are using CE clearos I would shoot for 20% flavor ratio and not more than 25% ever. So if you want to make 5ml of juice you take out 4ml and then add a ml a juice and you got your 20%. If you take out 5ml and add a ml of juice then you got 6ml and you're going to run out of your flavorless at an awkward number and be vaping stronger nicotine juice.

You're going to need lots and lots of bottles. At least 10. A drip atomizer doesn't hurt either for testing your flavors. Another thing is to test your flavors by tasting them before you mix them. Just because it says Cotton Candy on the bottle doesn't mean it's not refined (insert toilet humor expletive here). TPA is great for that :)

I could sit here and re-type things I've already typed before but TBH I'm just gonna refer you to my blog, the Vaper's Handbook, where everything will become known to you with a quickness:
