the OP says not enough flavor at %20
Steeping of some sort might help...

and if it was Easy, Everyone would be doing it.
saw an interview with the owners of 5 Pawns
they said they spend at least 2 months developing each flavor, Tweaking the numbers around by less than half of one percent sometimes.
but don't worry you will get the hang if it, it is rather fun once you get the process down.

Thank you for the help
Do all flavors require 4%?

No not all of them. I do use up to 20% for Totally Wicked concentrates.

With the FA flavours I have they range from 3-7% if I use them as a single flavour mix. It's just a case of experimenting and seeing what works best :D

DIY is a lot of try-n-taste .

The advantage is that you can do your liquids exactly the way you like them, although it's going to take some trial and error.

Get the same flavour from different maufacturers and they all will taste differently. Not to the point that Mango tastes like orange,
but every flavourist has his/her own ideas about something's supposed to taste.

Same with. Some flavours are highly concentrated, others are diluted.

As I'm mixing a lot with flavours from EU-based suppliers ( Flavourart from Italy, Inawera from Poland ), I found this table helpful for rough pointers in the right direction:

Though it's in German, 1% is 1% all over the globe :)

agree with the totally wicked concentrates, some of the totally wicked tobacco flavors are really strong like the "dark devil" i use that at around .02 or .03 PERCENT. or like 6 drops from bottle topper per 15 mL batch.

Thanks for that Steamix. I use a lot of Inawera too, so hope you don't mind me pinching the link too

20% is pretty high, I normally try to keep my flavors at a max of 10% which keeps them from losing flavor. Some flavors I use are at 2.5% depending on how I want them to play out in my recipe. I always taste each individual flavor in a small sample so I can get a feel (taste) for how it'll vape. It may be time consuming but it's worth it.

Not at all :) - Don't own any rights on that one :)

But why 're-invent the wheel' when fellow DIYers half a globe away gave it a go already - gives me a good place to start and leaves me more time to 'tweak' the juice towards my taste without having to figure base percentage first.

if you want %20 flavoring 3 mL is correct per 15 mL batch, most of the flavorings i use at around 5-15% but its hard to say how much YOU should use.
when i started mixing my own i made a lot of bad e-liquid some of it was so bad i had to toss it out.
when im messing with new flavors i use heat to speed up the steeping time.
i take a clean small glass, rinse it out and dry it very well. then pour my batch into the glass and let the glass sit in a sink or tub of hot water for a few hours stirring once every 30 minutes also every 30 minutes i drain all the hot water out and put new hot water in. this will give me a good idea of what the finished product will be like, but a few more days of steeping if a cool dark place will really do the trick.
do not use this method with the e-liquid in a plastic bottle. PET plastic (most common for plastic e-liquid bottles) will break down at or above 140 degrees F and leach toxic chemicals into the e-liquid this is why you must use a glass cup or bottle.

if you have a crock pot you wont need to use a sink or tub just dont let it get too hot.

Thank you, this is terrific information as I am mixing tasteless batches also.

Thanks for the encouraging post. I bought everything needed to mix my own and now I am second guessing myself.

I totally agree mate, makes life a lot easier having a realistic starting point. For me, I'll be starting at the mean value and then slowly going up - I like my juices strong. I've been looking all over for info on Inawera percentages, so this is a big help.

Thank you for this as I was adding more flavor. Adding less made no sense to me.

Think of it like climbing a mountain. You slowly add flavour til you almost reach the summit of taste. If you carry on adding flavour then, you're basically going back down the other side of the mountain - hope that makes sense

Flavor art flavoring
its frustrating to get it to taste like store bought e juice it shouldnt be this hard

but it is, they took many tries to get it right before they put it on the shelf... :)
DIY is like cooking from scratch without a recipe, start small with the flavors ( 3-5%) and add till you like it but keep track of what you added to be able to repeat the same result next time ...
