I want to get an evic, but all the programing is a little intimidating. I'm on a computer constantly, can program a VCR, and use a smartphone. But, software installations and updates are scary, and often unsuccessful for me. Should I be concerned?

no ... the eVic is very simple to use ... no harder to update and use than a smartphone :2cool:

Yes.

Should you be concerned? No.

For one thing, most mods can not be updted at all, right? Should you choose not to run updates, then you have a mod little different than many others. Although I would be hard pressed to understand why anyone would not take advantage of formware updates to their ecig, there is no other down side save that you would be using an older version of the firmware.

You can spend far more money on a mod that will never be updated after all.

Frankly, updating the firmware is so easy that I can not see a downside to doing so.

Guys thanks for the input/encouragement, If I get the evic, which seems likely, I will want to do the updates. OT a little, but what is the prognosis when you drop an evic?

It all depends on which version you get. If you buy one new from a B&M or online, you'll most likely get the newer V2. But if you buy one used, then there is a chance it will be the older V1. The difference between the two is that the newer control head has 2 screws in it to keep the top from popping off when dropped.

I'm a newbie and I started with the eVic, it is very easy to use and to update, really takes just a few seconds..

You do not need to program the eVic, you might want to adjust the auto shutoff feature to something reasonable like 150 minutes like I did so it's not always turned off when you want to vape but that's easy enough to do either via the device itself or when connected to your PC and if you don't do this the device will still give you awesome vapes..

The programs is something you don't need but wich you will probably play with sometime when you are bored enough for it, you'll find ready 'programs' being written by other people available for download and you might try some of them for yourself.. once you do that you will get the urge to modify those 'programs' (wich are actually just some voltage and timing settings) to adjust to your own taste.. but again it is totally unneeded.. you will LOVE the eVic just as is...
