Do the back of your Reo doors get black/gray gunk on them?

Just wondering if you guys get the same gunk? What causes it? Sometimes it builds up so bad I end up washing the whole mod in the sink and scrubbing the hell out of it, but it comes out looking new.

Oxidation will happen with aluminum as already mentioned. Someone post what they coated theirs with but for the life of me I can't remember.
