Do the spinners still charge pretty fast via USB???

My new 1300 spinner shuld arrive today. Great service considering I ordered Sunday night. I currently have two 900 passthrus, a usb charger for my to 78mm and a charger for my two V2 batteries so I have stuff plugged i all around the house. I have readthat the spinners charge pretty fast. And I know on a wall charger they are obviously faster. But I was wondering if I will still get decent charge times via usb on my latop. I have a 900 that I put on charge at around 9pm last night and it is still not fully charged on a 1000mAh wall fob. My other I had on my laptop overnight and am running it as a passthru and it was fully charged this morning. Just don't wanna leave myself high and dry with a bunch of dead batteries.

Unless you have a lot of time on your hands, I would use the wall charger and not the usb. The length of the cord to charge the Spinner is shorter than the others that come with the X2s and a 1300 will take a while to fully charge regardless if it was an X2 or Spinner.

At a guess, I would say that it took somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 hours to fully charge my 900 Spinner off my work computer, 2-3 hours on the wall charger.

I'm going on 11 hours with my 900 X2.and it still isn't charged. Wasn't even completely dead either. Never took that long before.

You could have burned out your usb port on your laptop. I have read about that happening to other people.

I use my work computer when I charge so it doesn't matter if it burns out or not.

I was going to mention that charging on a laptop/desktop USB port might not be a good idea. Getting a USB port repaired (sub-board or motherboard) or replacing a power supply is a lot more expensive than a wall wart. Just sayin...

This was on a wall charger. Not USB. The only time I hook up my big batteries USB is when using it as a pass thru.

C. A bad connection on your battery where you plug the USB in to
D. A bad battery

If the X2 is lit up on the LED, it is likely your cord or plug but still could be the connection on your battery. It has never taken me more than about 5 hours to charge anything I have.

When you use them in pass thru mode the current demand goes way up with each drag! Again, a wall wart is a much safer and less expensive solution.

Looks like I have some major troubleshooting to do. Many different combos to try. Two different batteries and cords. Plus two different types wall fobs. I know the LED was lit up on the battery and the wall fob so it was getting power. I had the same problem once before but don't know which wall fob or cord it was. But I do know what battery. This time it was the other battery.

I did just get my spinner today and put it on charge before I left with the same wall fob that the long charge took. Don't know how much charge it came with but I put it on around noon and it was charged when I got home at 5.

Just curious will any usb to mini usb cord suffice????


And I didn't realize that using the USB port on my PC or laptop was not a good idea. Kinda thought that was the main purpose of a passthru. To be able to vape while it was connected via USB.

It is the main purpose of a pass thru to be able to vape and charge at the same time. I really don't think it's meant to be used on a computer USB port though. That's a guess and I have seen horror stories about blown ports on laptops and desktops. It's really up to you and how confident and "adventurous" you may feel. I mentioned it because many people don't seem to be aware that it may wreck their PC.

Any USB to mini USB cable will work, but it's a good idea to have one made with heavier wire than is normal for mini USB cables. This minimizes voltage drop and keeps battery charge time where it should be. Another dodge to the wire size problem is to use a shorter cable to keep the resistance of the cable as low as possible.

As far as wall warts are concerned, I'd suggest one with at least .5 amp, 500 milliamp, output. I use the 1.5 amp ones from SI for all my batteries, SI and other vendors, and have never had a problem. Ones with lower current output may not be able to maintain a full 5 volts under the load of a discharged battery which will make charge time much longer.

Different USB versions output different levels of power.

USB 3 puts out more power than USB 2. So if your computer is older it may be the USB outlet isn't going to put out a lot of current.

Any computer USB port, from what I've seen of current draw by SI batteries (including X2s), will charge them. The problem comes if something goes wrong with the battery/charge circuit in the battery. Then, no matter what USB version is being used, problems could easily develop that will cost a lot more than a wall wart.
