wandering if i can charge my x2 and my spinner batt with my volt wall charger? i know i can plug my x2 and my spinner cables into the wall adapter charger that came with my reguler volt batts....so can i charge them that way or is the wattage or voltage different or/and will it damage my x2 or my spinners...? i ask this because i dont always have my PC on and it would be easier sometimes if i could just charge using a wall charger...THANKS A BUNCH !!!

hmmm...so why then on the SI website does it say you can only charge the spinner with the spinner charger? and WHY IS IT BEST NOT TO CHARGE MY BATTS ON COMPUTERS? that's how I always charge my x2 and my spinner. I charge my small batts on the wall chargers...

In regards to your 2nd question. It is because it's easier and cheaper to replace a usb wall charger than a usb port on a desktop or especially a laptop if by any chance gets burnt out unless you use a powered usb hub

When they say you can only use a spinner charger or an x2 charger, they are referring to the cable, not the wall adapter part.

Charging on a computer can fry out the USB port on your computer

If on the extremely rare chance there's a short while you're charging your battery on your computer, it can not only fry your USB port, but fry your motherboard as well. X2s, Spinners and Volt batts have pretty low power demands for charging (<200mA) and are well protected by circuitry if charging correctly, but probably safer to not risk it if you don't have to. That's why everybody recommends a wall adapter. And you don't have to use SI's wall adapter - you can use any that you might already have (like for phones, iPads, etc.) - it's just the dongles (that plug into the USB port) that are specific to the battery. I have a powered USB hub plugged into an outlet that charges all my stuff all at once. ;)

o.k so then basically when I bought my latest spinner and got the spinner charger too I wasted money on the spinner charger? because I could just as easily charge my spinner with my regular volt wall charger?

You have to plug the spinner charger INTO the wall charger.

Spinner battery -> Spinner charger (little dongle with cable) -> wall adapter (SI's or anybody else's).

You have to use the Spinner-specific dongle with the Spinner because the power specs are different. Don't use the dongle that you'd use to charge your stick batts to charge your Spinner.

In fact, there are numerous websites, forums, and posts with folks experiencing irregularities with charging a spinner on a standard Ego charger. It's my opinion that the regular chargers are also frying some of the spinners out there. My charging cycle is very weird for my spinner, but so far it's charging. I would much prefer find the appropriate spinner charger.

Forgive my noob-ness, but what is SI?

Wow, I didn't know about the problems people were having with eGo chargers on Spinners - the power specs are the same.

SI is Smokeless Image (we're on their subforum).

so i charged my X2 battery last night with the SI Volt wall charger (not the X2 cable and PC method) and apparently it ruined my X2 battery....my battery is now useless, its only 3 months old and it did work like a champ...looks like i will have to buy another X2 battery now. well that sucked, i wont be doing that ever again...luckily i still have my spinner battery.

Did you screw the X2 into the Volt charger
chargingunits_01.jpg

plugged into a wall adapter?

I know the X2's circuitry isn't set up to charge that way (I think they tell you not to do that on the X2 order page), but the cable-to-wall adapter method should work fine without damaging your battery (you don't have to use your PC). You could charge your Spinner that way too, so long as you use the right charger.

So chargers:
Volt stick batts (65mm, 78mm):

Spinners:

X2s:
x2passthrough_02a.jpg

and any of these (used on the appropriate battery) can be plugged into any USB wall/car adapter, powered USB hub, or computer USB port. The right charger matters; the other [USB] end, not so much.

ya, im such a gooooof sometimes...lol...I screwed my x2 into a volt charger and the plugged it into the wall...no wonder I ruined my x2. not sure even what the heck I was thinking when I did that, maybe I was thinking it was my spinner or something. I apparently know that the x2 charges from the screw on cap end...I assume I burned out some sort of element inside my x2. it still acts like it will work but I can puff and puff and puff on it and it only gives out a tiny bit of vapor...its ruined im sure !!! sometimes my brain is in a different hemisphere....lol. o well, I wanted to have a good reason to make another purchase from SI anyways...lets see what color do I wanna buy this time for my new x2 battery?

Try prying the post out a little on the X2. Maybe it just got pushed in by the charger post. If it were fried, it probably wouldn't work at all, and it would smell something funky/burny.

...but if that fixes it, don't let that stop you from buying a new color! ;)

I tried to slightly pry the post out a couple times....its not helping. something is wrong with it for sure. I went ahead and placed a new order on SI. things must be going really slow at the new place SI has because I placed my order on sunday night and it is still showing up in my account as "processing"...

Contact Customer Service to see if there is a problem with your order. Sometimes the "shipped" email doesn't make it out, and your order status doesn't change like it should. I ordered Monday evening and mine shipped yesterday, due to deliver tomorrow. So ck w/CS.
