No. I haven't smoked for over a month. I started smoking when I was in my late teens. Yeah, maybe I wasn't much of a tobacco smoker at two packs a week, but I did that for over 20 years. I'm happy to stop becausey son and wife hate the smell in the house...not to mention my being drunk and walking around the house with a cigarette. Japan is a pretty tiny place and people are REALLY tolerant gor the most part.

it sounds like you didnt smoke heavy enough to lose your sense of smell very much. me, I smoked heavy and could hardly smell a lot of stuff. as taowulf says though, some things I wish I couldnt smell that much now

Where I work I'm often in close quarters with heavy heavy smokers (that aren't currently smoking). You can often smell them from about 10 meters away, and it is NOT a good smell. I'm glad to be done smoking. Besides I was vaping around some friends a few weeks back and they excitedly said it smelt great like cotton candy.

I dont know, maybe Im wierd.... but I never minded the smell of burning cigarettes. I quit almost 2 years ago and occasionally take a puff, just because I do like the smell. I take a puff or 2 and it makes me sick to my stomach, but I do enjoy walking thru the smokers and taking a nice big inhale of the second hand smoke. THen take a some nice inhales from my vaporizer.

I smoked because of my fixation on fiddling and keeping busy while drinking. I also liked the big puff of smoke--but the smell, yuk. It seems to me that, unlike the smell of food that attracts so many people to eat, the smell of burning tobbaco doesn't seem to be missed by ex-smokers. Is this true?

I liked the smell of good tobacco not necessarily the smoke and definitely not the smell of an old ashtray; some pipe tobaccos also have a pleasant aroma.

I love being able to smell again...except that bad smells are also more prominent. But I can accept that trade off.

The smell of a burning cigarette I don't like. The taste of a cigarette is good to me, but I know where that path leads, and I will not walk down it again. Oddly, tobacco flavors are NOT as good to me.

I too notice both sides of the coin. Can smell the nasty person who just came in from outside after smoking and the car that is used as an ashtray (probably the worst smell of all). I still think of smoking..."maybe just one...", like the alcoholic talking about a drink. Still smells good sometimes. Over 5 weeks without an analog. Longest time ever. I don't even buy Tobacco flavored juice (some are mighty tasty) for fear of going back for one puff. NEVER NEVER NEVER going to do that again. I rather chew on broken glass before I give in to smoking again. I hope I never am faced with this challenge, but I will do something, anything to never smoke again. Proudest moment so far....someone asked me for a light and I replied..."I don't smoke". Stopped me dead in my tracks. Did I just say that? After 39 years of breathing a campfire? Woo Hoo !!!!!!!!!
