This thread was started in the Nicotene forum by DrmChld & I have the same question

"I have read that nic is absorbed through the mouth, nose, mucus membranes...etc..

I have a bad cough and ruff throat. Do we still get our fix just inhaling into the mouth without inhaling directly into the lungs?

Thanks" originally posted by DrmChld

You my fellow V4L friends are where I am turning. I'm down to 4mg VG & still coughing. It's a little better at 4mg than it was at 8mg but shouldn't it be less than 3 draws, hack up first lung, 3 draws hack up other lung?
I'm gettin' kinda tired of pickin' them lungs up off the floor :(

Nana have you just started vaping? if so then its probably because your body is getting used to the vapor and you should drink plenty of water to keep your throat and body hydrated. It helps a lot and after a while the cough goes away for the most part. I still hack up crap from my lungs and Ive been vaping for 8 months or so now. hope I helped a little.

Nana, I'm not sure, but from the info you posted, it would seem like you would still get your fix, altho it might take longer to get it cuz it would be a different delivery system. Into the lungs, into the oxygenated bloodstream almost immediately. Not so with the mucus membrane delivery system. But it does seem like it should work just fine. IMHO

I have always done it this way: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/85612-newbies-proper-inhalation-technique.html#post1272541

I mouth inhale and may or may not take it into the lungs. I rarely ever take a direct lung hit, especially if it's Wow Peppermint. I exhale through the mouth and/or nose depending on the nostril tickle factor of my current vape. My theory is that a vaper's drag or inhaling speed can be adjusted with practice and the coughing eventually stops. I think most people using a PV for the first time without knowing the proper technique are doing it wrong if they are inhaling it "short and fast" like an analog. I've seen some first-timers cough from too hard of a lung inhale.

I knew I could count on you "purples" :)
I posted a thread about a month ago about the cough but it still isn't gone.
V4L is my 3rd PV the other 2 were PG--no VG options.
I have the technique down I just can't keep my lungs quiet.

Tim at V4L suggested dropping down to 4mg & it helped ~a little.
What does anyone think of 0nic?...kinda defeats the quitting anologes purpose but if it would help to step up slow & then back down I'd do it!

I can't speak for anyone but myself Nana. But it's the Vaping that I Love. So when I started stepping down to the lower levels , I did it slowly & it didn't bother me. At the 0 nic level is just fine for me. I still enjoy the best of the best here. I get to vape with the best company in the world & friends. I don't miss the nic, it's the act of doing it I get satisfaction from & don't plan to quit anytime soon :2cool:

Although i do direct inhale to the ol lungs, most of the time I hold the vapor in my mouth for a sec, then either to the lungs or out the nose. i think if your lungs are sensitive you might try holding the vapor in your mouth for a sec tnen exhale through the nose. it would seem you would get the nic in your system without having it go to your lungs.
    Hope you feel better!
