I do consider it a Holiday and its one of my favorites.

A little bit of history behind it for those that may not know...

Halloween — History.com Articles, Video, Pictures and Facts
Halloween, celebrated each year on October 31, is a mix of ancient Celtic practices, Catholic and Roman religious rituals and European folk traditions that blended together over time to create the holiday we know today. Straddling the line between fall and winter, plenty and paucity and life and death, Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition. Halloween has long been thought of as a day when the dead can return to the earth, and ancient Celts would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off these roaming ghosts. The Celtic holiday of Samhain, the Catholic Hallowmas period of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day and the Roman festival of Feralia all influenced the modern holiday of Halloween. In the 19th century, Halloween began to lose its religious connotation, becoming a more secular community-based children's holiday. Although the superstitions and beliefs surrounding Halloween may have evolved over the years, as the days grow shorter and the nights get colder, people can still look forward to parades, costumes and sweet treats to usher in the winter season.

If I don't get the day off work (when it falls on a weekday) then it's not a holiday.

When I got lots of free candy it was.

I believe her name is Candy..

yes and no at the same time. Not a holiday in the truest sense, but a day for seeing all of the adorable rugrats in cute costumes, then turning out the lights before the teenagers come out. Occasionally a time to throw big parties and have a great time. I had a killer party at my house last year. Being a Sunday this year kind of puts a damper on things.

Dooods. If you're 12 or under, of course it's a holiday. The best damn holiday of the year outside of Christmas and maybe your birthday. If you're over 12 and you genuinely think that Halloween is a holiday, you probably have developmental problems.

wow... ya know that's kinda offensive...it'd be like me saying that people who believe that christmas is a holiday have developmental problems...

being pagan it's one of the big 4 (of the 8) holidays...granted we call it by a different name but it's still the same day..... and modern practices are taken from several of our traditions (even if people don't know it)
and it kicks off El Día de los Muertos for those of Mexican heritage as well...

As for the poster that said no because of the origin of the word coming from holy....just because it may not be a christian religion doesn't mean that it isnt holy in some other religion
