Do you consider yourself 'off of tobacco' and 'tobacco free' now that you vape?

I've given it no thought, and really, the question is meaningless to me. I am a nicotine addict, and I have found a better, healthier, more enjoyable way to maintain than smoking. Off tobacco? Irrelevant.

...although, I think when most people say "off tobacco," they mean "not smoking." In that view, I am off tobacco and am certainly an ex-smoker.

I think using the phrase "addicted to nicotine" is wholly inaccurate and misleading.
Let me first answer the posed question; I am not using tobacco products IE cigarettes so I am smoke free.
However I cannot consider myself to be "addicted" to nicotine either.
Being addicted to any drug carries with it a supposition that you are using "a drug" {or gambling}
to excess along with the self destructive behaviors that normally go along with said addictions.
I absolutely don't find my using nicotine or caffeine for that matter on a mostly daily basis to incorporate any of the self destructive behaviors, compulsions ,the physical decline or the physical effects that an addiction typically brings to an individual. That was not the case when I used drugs twenty years ago so I reject this whole notion.
No way, no how!

Addiction:
–noun
the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

I see nothing in the definition about self destructive behaviors, or physical decline. I have no problem admitting I'm a nicotine addict. Why the hell would it have been so difficult to give up if it weren't an addictive substance? A drug, in fact.

I can't speak for you or your history but you have provided only one definition of addiction. Maybe you could check it out in the DSM or an addiction resource.
I'm not asking you to accept my reasoning for you or any one else, this strictly pertains to me and perhaps other folks may feel the same but I have a problem saying that I'm addicted to nicotine personally.
I feel it is the part of the equation which makes those who would ban it say "that's the problem".
They feel they are condoning people being addicted to nicotine, it seems imo for those in power
that is at least a big part of the problem with our use of pv's.
I do not find my using nicotine to be a problem for me or anyone else.
If you haven't had a problem with being addicted to a drug with all it incurs in terms of personal loss destruction and cost than perhaps you don't understand what I'm speaking of.
I don't find using nicotine or caffeine will have the same effect on families or the person involved.
I've yet to see anyone be jailed for "driving under the influence" of nicotine.

Most people switched away from using tobacco due to the harmful effects of inhaling tobacco SMOKE. Your question seems to me to be rather like asking if a water drinker consumes soda pop, since sodas are composed largely of water.
Ok, fair enough. But what Im getting at is figuring out why some people seem to have the opinion that because they are getting nicotine into their system, and because nicotine comes from tobacco, that they are using tobacco and therefore NOT tobacco free.

The way I see it, using tobacco and getting nicotine from ejuice are two completely different things. I do believe that I am tobacco free, completely "off" of the stuff. Just because I get an alkaloid found in tobacco (as well as other plants in the nightshade family such as tomatoes and eggplant, although theres is much much less nicotine in them and tobacco is not extracted from those plants commercially, and Im not sure it even could be), does not mean I am using tobacco per se.

Thats just my opinion of course, and like others have said, the important thing isnt whether any of us are using tobacco or not, but that we am no longer smoking. Im just asking this question out of sheer curiosity and nothing else because I find it interesting that there are 2 lines of thinking when it comes to this, and Im wondering which is more popular.

Agreed, I'm addicted to Caffeine as much as nicotine. Both quite possibly the world's most popular drugs. I can live with my truth......

I'm smoke free and don't use tobacco in the traditional sense, but I'm definitely not nicotine free!

Exactly WOH!
I was waiting for someone to say this. I consider myself as smoke free. I stopped smoking cigarettes. I do vape nicotine, but I do not smoke, so I am not a cigarette smoker, I am a vaper and soooo much happier! :)
I do not bother people with my smoking anymore, or the smell of cigarettes, secondhand smoke, cigarette buts left everywhere, or the messy ash.

I do love my nicotine though. Vape on!:vapor:

So...If you are an ex-smoker, and vape nicotine juice, do you still consider yourself a tobacco user, or are you tobacco free?

I'm 100% positive that I am tobacco free. I use nicotine not tobacco. Tobacco is tobacco and nicotine is nicotine.

All my nicotine is painstakingly extracted from eggplants by 100's of these little oompa loompa .......s. And don't even think about asking them how they do it. Things would get ugly.

Don't believe me!??? Then prove it. :)
