Do you ever refill, drip or mix e-liquids in public places?

To me, this may even be more suspicious looking than vaping! I was refilling a standard, stainless steel Smoktek cartomizer the other day while sitting in my truck in a parking lot, with people walking all around. So think about this... I'm sitting there refilling a cylindrical steel tube with "something" that passersby cant actually see(e-juice), and then I put that cylindrical steel tube up to my mouth, hold it there for several seconds, then blow out a bunch of what looks like smoke!

I dont want break the rules by using any words or terminology explaining this any further, but you can imagine what passersby who have NO IDEA what vaping is all about may be thinking that I am doing then and there!

Again, it certainly might look suspicious to the uninitiated, or illegal!!

So I now not only keep my vaping down to a minimum while out in public, I also do the refilling only in private areas. granted, I'm certainly not doing anything wrong, but I dont want to deal with someone thinking otherwise and calling the authorities.... Just dont want to have to deal with it... So I try to come filled and prepared!

I will refill, vape, change heads or anything else I need to do at the moment in public. I do not sound a horn and call everyone over to see what I am doing but I do go about my business just as anyone else is wherever I am. I see no need to hide nor am I embarassed out the stares I may get. The more mainstream vaping becomes, the more likely it will overcome the current challenges. If we all fear being lumped into that "other" group of people then we may miss a chance to educate someone.

I do drip in public at times but I would draw the line at filling using a syringe in public...lol...

I have no problems with do anything vaping related in public......

but the syringe...... I don't think there is anything wrong with using the syringe in public but I personally would have to draw the line there too.

I think sneaking around makes you look suspicious; If I am doing nothing wrong, I see no reason to hide.

^^This^^

I filled a phoenix bottom-coil with the syringe in public at a Hardee's (Carl's Jr. for you folks out west). Whipped out my little carrying case, un-zipped it and had a woman give me that "look" and I looked over and said "Hi how you doing?!" I continued filling the syringe as she and her friend watched in shock and then, watched the look go from shock to relief as I injected the phoenix and screwed it back onto my twist instead of jabbing it into my arm which; I'm sure was what she thought the next step was gonna be.

She gave a nervous laugh and said "That's one of those e-cigarettes things isn't it" to which I replied "Yes Ma'am, I'm just re-filling my atomizer - I bet you thought I was doing something else for a second didn't ya!"

She asked me what the deal was with those things...I educated her. She thought they were pretty cool and said she knew a couple of people in her family that could "use one of those" but they would be put off by the whole syringe part. I told her I certainly understood & that there were all types of Atomizers and most did not require a syringe. I explained to her the 3 basic ingredients (versus the 4,800 carcinogens taken in by smoking) and she thought it was fantastic and wondered why she didn't see more people use them. I told her it was only a matter of time. That is, if Big T or the Aphabet gang didn't get 'em taken off the market or turned into a mega-taxed medical or Tobacco device.

Do I, or would I do this everywhere?

No. Of course not.

But, It was basically an empty restaurant; besides me and her friend that she was eating dinner with on a slow, mid-week night. I did it knowing that only two people would see it being done & I was prepared with an outgoing attitude & ready to talk it up if I saw "that look". I was friendly and dressed nicely and didn't look like I often do - in work clothes that could be construed as "crackhead" attire holding a sign saying "Will work for beer". I acted like I was doing something completely legal...because I was.

Would it have been appropriate to do it with 50 people in there? No, I don't give E-Cig Seminars and you can't explain or control the reactions of 50 people obviously.

And admittedly, I have an evil streak sometimes and felt like having a little fun with a stranger.:p But like I said, the stars were all aligned so to speak, and the environment was right. And on top of that, I'm an ardent enemy of "political correctness".

When possible and appropriate, I believe in setting the conditions in society instead of letting society condition me...to scurry off to a dark corner and hunker down to do something...that is legal anyways. We have enough false minefields in today's society we all have to walk through everyday anyways. If people want to "think" something...well then, why not help them with information and let them "think" about that instead?

Nevertheless, there is now two more people walking around informed and, think that e-cigs are pretty cool.

Oh look, I wrote a novella...I'll shut up now.:p

+1 I've got bottles of juice on me at all times. I'll do whatever I need to wherever I am. I haven't taken a syringe out and filled in public yet, but that's only because I've never taken my Zenesis mini anywhere and vaped it dry. I'm usually running my X2s with clearos out and about, and I can drip fill those. I've gotten a few looks here and there, but people usually figure out what I'm doing once I start vaping it. The only questions I've ever gotten was whether or not I quit smoking, for how long, where to get one, and are they expensive.

I just went on a very much needed vacation to Cabo and it was the 2nd time I did it with my Reo, so I dripped on the flight. My next seat neighbor gave me the eye at first, but soon started to ignore me...

For those that don`t know, the Reos are bottom feeders and they tend to auto-feed with the build in pressure on the plane... I learned that the hard way on my first flight

i refill in public whenever i need to, and i haven't given it much thought. then again i made a habit of hand rolling tobacco when i was still a smoker, so whatever. you gotta do what you gotta do.
i also have used a syringe to fill in public, a few times in a cafe where i used to work. if anything it was one of the few things a customer would allow me to finish if they approached the counter. no big deal, but often jokes were made.
people will feed off your vibes, just relax.

I'm pretty new with all of this, but I don't feel the need to sneak around or hide, etc. Actually, I'm proud to be vaping my safe, clean eGO vs polluting with my old stinky analogs. I've found that for the most part, people don't even notice; when you are trying to be sneaky, you look shady and that's when people start paying attention. Just act normal.
