Do you feel comfortable with dealers that mix their own eliquid?

YES. Thank you, that's what I meant. If I'm going to inhale something, I kind of would like to make sure it doesn't contain things like lead from their mixing bowls or asbestos from their basement's insulation that was flying around while they had their cooling fan cranking. At least with cigs I know there are a million chemicals and additives, but hey (I guess), they're inspected and not put together on top of a 1981 Sears Craftsman table saw or a ping pong table.
I am certainly not slandering any one of the fine retailers out there. Just the sloppy ones that like in any industry, do exist.

To the poster that seemed to have been disturbed by the audacity of me asking, yes, I suppose I was looking for a manufacturer with regular inspections and quality controls in place. But now thanks to you guys I'm learning some facts of how that part of the business works.

There are some:

Johnson's Creek (serious lab operation and testing available), Mountain Oak Vapor (posted test results), Vaperite, Aromaejuice (lab visits available on request) Ahlusion (ISO 9001 certified) and I am sure there are others.

If you're referring to me, I wasn't disturbed. Merely confused, since you didn't provide enough information about the context of your query. I wasn't trying to be nasty.

The best way to be assured of the cleanliness of your juice (or at least knowing that any contaminants are strictly your own) is to DIY. But I realize that it's not an option for everybody.

There isn't a mass production means of making e-liquid as far as I know. There aren't machines to manually do this. It's all being done more or less by hand. I don't know how most B&Ms do it, but *MY* local shop A buys dekang by the boatload and marks it up ridiculously, and local shop B buys at least some in huge bottles, and rebottles it themselves. They did this in front of me, once. Without so much as a spritz of hand sanitizer. Last time i bought anything there.

All you can really do is make your choices carefully, and do your homework here on ECF. Those in the know have already posted what they know. Me? I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Good luck, OP.

Ever grab a hotdog from a Quick Stop or Circle K? How about a drink from there? Do you know when they cleaned the machines or spouts? Have you ever been to that mom and pop shop you ordered your pizza from? Have you ever been in the back at a Sub shop where they chop all the stuff in those bins they put on your bread? How about that Chinese buffet... been in the kitchen there? Is someone standing by 24/7 inspecting and watching employees prepare your food? Ever watch Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares? Sometimes you just have to do the best you can.

Don't ever eat off of a roller grill. those things are a pain in the ... to get clean even if you approach it with the best of intentions rather than minimum wage apathy.

Totally ot but I worked at a Woolworth's lunch counter *yes..this was a long..long..very long time ago* with a roller grill that I personally cleaned every evening and it was not incredibly difficult, and I can tell you, we kept the place immaculate. The 7-11, maybe not so much.

That is very true. A grain of salt is required when reading these reviews. The best thing to do is read the threads here. Most vendors either have their own thread that they have started, or someone else has started one and others keep expanding on it with their own reviews. Also, you have to always keep in mind that taste is subjective.

Again, keep in mind that taste is subjective. Be careful about slamming vendors in that way. I am personally a HUGE Mt Baker fan, but there is not a single vendor out there that has universal acceptance for all their flavors by the entire vaping community. It just doesn't happen. With that in mind, $7.49 for a 30ml bottle... you can't beat that price! Combine that with great customer service and incredibly fast shipping and you have a winner!

FYI- I am just a dude... not a reviewer/blogger, and I receive no compensation whatsoever from anyone at Mt Baker or any other vendor. These are just my unbiased opinions.

I'm not bashing anyone. And I said nothing about their prices being bad. I order from MtBaker all the time.. more so for accessories but I used them ONLY as an example. There were plenty other questionable reviews listed on said magazine's site.

Not every new juice company is going to have the cash to start with a stainless steel "lab", so should they be forbiden from the industry?
Because they dont fit the mold of the new regulitory body , on top of the FDA's soon regulation, just like a pizza shop, cant we trust them?
Weed the ones out that dont fit with lack of patronage, the word will spread fast enough, we are fighting regulation from the FDA but its ok from AEMSA? Because they say theyre one of us? There is plenty of time for regulation from all over..

In fact, a quick check of AEMSA's site found the following March update:...

You have a point there about the fact that none actually have been certified yet. What I found interesting in reading their standards is the fact that there could be a standard for the facility in support of the OP question. Other level of standards may be applied that I don't know of, I am a noob after all. I am convince that a good number of vendor uses good process around juice mixing and packaging. But I also suspect that there is also the entirely opposite where there may be no regard at all for contamination or quality control.

At least providing visibility in their process (mixing lab, packaging, quality control) reduces the uncertainty around juice production.

Franki you may want to look into the DIY threads it very simple and then once you learn you will feel more comfortable in what goes into your e-liquid if you eventually go that route.
Also you will be surprised how cheap it cost.

That's actually a great idea. And you bet I'm going to look into it. The links posted by Mr. Mann are very helpful too, thanks for that.

I'm not sure I would compare pizza shops and woolworth's to this? (wow the flashbacks, yeah spent much of my pre-teen/teen days playing pinball at my local neighborhood woolworth's. I kicked ... on those old pre-digital machines.) At least food poisoning comes and it goes, where some contaminants can remain in your system for a long long time.

At a glance, the manufacturing standards were okay. Honestly I don't know enough to speak intelligently about the details of proper manufacturing processes. I trust my go-to vendor based on two eyewitness accounts of the facility.

My problem with AEMSA is the arbitrary ingredient standards. Why would you not allow coloring or WTAs? What is wrong with Caffeine? I personally don't vape caffeine, but why should it be prohibited. I suppose my issue is that some of these restrictions seem like arbitrary prohibitions because they sound good.

If there are legitimate health issues with some of the ingredients, let's hear them. Otherwise, so long as the vendor tells you what is in the juice, let them decide what to put in it. I will decide what I buy and I want all my options on the table if the ingredients are not a reasonably well-documented health threat.

Personally, I think if this were a "pizza shop" forum, we may get into the cleanliness of stores, but since this is an ecig forum dedicated to a young industry and one that, frankly, should have its act together considering it actively sells a serious , I'd prefer and stick with those that have the funds, or at least the know-how to do it properly. :2c:

well the gas station where i worked the grease would accumulate in the seam between the rollers and the frame on either side, and there was a plastic grommet there i couldn't remove. I couldn't get it all out from under there.

No problemo.

Why so much concern for juice vendors?

Where I live cayuga county new york plastic gloves are not used in food preperation but the next county over they are. I am sure its different all through out the usa.

Because mods are just pieces of equipment, but without the liquid, where would we be? I guess you could get a flashlight adapter with a 510 connection and still rock your mech mods. I don't crave metal, I crave nicotine--a product that if not treated with care could be hazardous.

Sounds like Dekang is a fit for you then, funds come from know-how and I assume most vendors vape what they sell and want to do well and selling crap is only shooting them selves in the foot

Here are a few things that I, and a few others, feel is "fit" for us: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...essage-e-liquid-vendors-what-we-want-you.html Just out of curiosity, what liquid vendors get your cash? I posted a few links of vendors I order(ed) from, so what about you?

Because thats where it starts, next its vendors with clones, then vendors with high mg. nic, then its large ml. orders, it wont stop , someone else telling us what we need, or rather what some of us are asking for what we feel we cant figure it out for ourselves, from those awful juice dealers, alittle due-diligence and the fear or doubt of a new vendor can be justified or eliminated be it juice or mod or PIZZA

No disrespect, but I cannot follow your train of thought here. What are you saying? It's all garbled up.
