Do you feel comfortable with dealers that mix their own eliquid?

In fact, a quick check of AEMSA's site found the following March update:

<"Our members are informing us they are very near ready for inspections. Given the geographically diverse locations around the country, the logistics for travel (to perform inspections) are somewhat arduous. The inspections will begin in the very near future and they will take time to complete. Scheduling time to travel, advance purchase tickets, and personal schedules of the inspectors are all factors for each and every inspection. As member’s labs get physically inspected and compliance verified, we will be posting the certifications on our website.">

So these will be voluntary, scheduled inspections by members who support the organization. Remember, quite a few have not joined AEMSA, so you will never see these firms certified. Will the facilities inspection results be posted regardless of the outcome of the inspection? Doesn't sound like it from what I read in that passage. Sounds like they will post certifications but nothing else. I don't think you should count on that for determining the safety of your liquid choices.

EDIT: None of my regular juice vendors are members of AEMSA. I only recognized two of the vendors listed. I have only ordered from one of them. Very short list.

FINAL EDIT (I have to stop, I know, OCD is bad this evening): Their standards do not permit WTAs in any juice. That is a problem. Also, no coloring can be added to any juices, oddly enough. Sounds like the sort of thing that will keep several very good juice makers from ever joining...

I have been to the Vaperite store, which maintains their mixing lab in the back of the store. I will say I was very impressed with exactly how clean and scientific it looked when I was able to catch a glance back into their back shop. The don't allow people back there except for their staff. I have no problems after seeing how clean their operation back there with buying from them. :)

Good to know. Vaperite is one of three vendors that I order from on a regular basis and often recommend because they sell all-natural and all-organic flavored juice.

I prefer it when a vendor posts pics of their nice, clean, stainless steel adorned lab. Shows their professionalism and pride in their business IMO. One of my favorite vendors has posted a lab analysis of one of their juices, clearly demonstrating what is in it and more importantly what is not.

Yup! I love that he did that. I don't know why more vendors won't post it, but all it takes is one to get the ball rollin'.

I know my favorite vendor has a lab that has VERY strict rules (not arbitrary "strictness," but all based on what is required to operate such facilities). The last time I was at his store he went into the lab, but not before donning a freakin' hazmat like suit (fully covered from top to bottom) before entering. There are vendors out there that perform strict levels of self-regulation.

Oh, and he makes all of his own juice and extracts in-house, or rather, in-lab (haha).

Being new to vaping, and needing to put in an order of juice soon, I was wondering what your comfort level is when you order from a site that states their mixes are their own. The first thing that comes to my mind is what do they put in it (are they being totally honest on the ingredients?), and is it safe to put into my body? Is home made mixes common with most retailers?

I steer away from anything that comes from China if at all possible (especially vigilant about food). So I'm focusing only on US liquids here.

If I'm sounding cynical and paranoid, I guess I will be until I get more vaping experience under my belt :)
Also, if anyone can recommend a dealer on the east coast that's quick to ship and a good liquid inventory selection, I'd appreciate the link.

Thanks :)

Ecig and China are tied together pretty hard!

Till the juice vendors post PMDS and SGS reports, it does not matter if their equipment is SS and they wear clean room/hazmat suits. It is all "mix in garage" level juice. Tastes really good though :)

Maybe, maybe not. I'll err on the side of "maybe not" and steer clear from garages. :)

I will be seriously impressed.

I do have a link of their ingredients, but not the type of link that you're referring to, I don't think. This is all just happening and the vape bar is, like I said, about to open--they have a lot going on right now. The vendor has been selling eliquid since 2009, though some think he is new, but the certification just happened recently.

I will get back to you after I see him or talk to him. Oh, and I am, if I read you correctly, about as much about quality standards and this is the one guy that I could vouch for. I may not know the ins and outs the way you do, but from what I do know, he is not leaving ANYTHING to chance.

To the OP. Sorry I skipped to the end. But if your talking about a local B/M shop that mixes their juice in the back room, then I'd stay away. The larger online dealers have a lot better quality. I've actually seen a local shop where the "juice man was drinking a beer when he was mixing the juice. All unlabled stuff and no quality control. Needless to say I never bought anything from there..

YES. Thank you, that's what I meant. If I'm going to inhale something, I kind of would like to make sure it doesn't contain things like lead from their mixing bowls or asbestos from their basement's insulation that was flying around while they had their cooling fan cranking. At least with cigs I know there are a million chemicals and additives, but hey (I guess), they're inspected and not put together on top of a 1981 Sears Craftsman table saw or a ping pong table.
I am certainly not slandering any one of the fine retailers out there. Just the sloppy ones that like in any industry, do exist.

To the poster that seemed to have been disturbed by the audacity of me asking, yes, I suppose I was looking for a manufacturer with regular inspections and quality controls in place. But now thanks to you guys I'm learning some facts of how that part of the business works.
