Do you find 32 AWG wire just a liitle too thin to make good coils with?

Wrapping small wire requires a lot of tension to get it perfect. If there's not enough they'll distort when heated. Take a look in the microcoil thread. There's a lot of methods on how to wrap with tension in there. You'll probably have to go back 5 or 6 pages. Here's a pic of how I do it. (there's a notch cut in my blunt needle, I use that to anchor the wire.)

I have yet to perfect the "32 microcoil". I mainly used 32 when rebuilding kanger coils, but i've figured out how to fit a 28 microcoil in there instead. Since I've gotten my Nemesis clone I've been giving my Igo-l a workout and my 32 kanthal has been collecting dust. Like others have said go straight to temco for kanthal, no point paying outrageous prices for a tiny bit of wire.

vap ... Thanks ... I will give that a try since I already have the 32 wire.

I will compare that with a single 30 AWG coil made to 2.0 ohms (and feeding it 7 watts)

Ron,

Each gauge definitely has a sweet spot for the power you are feeding it. 4/5 wraps around a #4 screw as a form (torched first), gave me a nice 2.0 ohm coil that was my go-to in a genesis wicked with cotton. Fed it between, 3.7-4.2v (6.8-8.8w) depending on juice. Microcoils were tough, and of course coils would tend to get deformed after the first couple re-wicks. 30ohm is much easier to work with, and 8wraps around. #4 screw gives me again, my 2.0ohms. Makes a nice little micro coil, is sturdy enough as well. 30 is also thin enough that you could easily wind them with high enough resistance for a dual coil setup without getting into sub-ohm territory.

As you get into heavier wire, it gets harder to stay under 10 watts and still have a coil that heats up without a huge lag. Not saying it can't be done, but in my experience, 32 gave me the most flexibility, but 30 retained the flexibility as well as increased the durability and ease to work with the wire quite a bit

Be bought mine from both Temco and Lightning Vapes (both through eBay) with great success. Prices were comparable ($6.80/100ft 32awg- Temco vs. $5.00/100ft 30awg- Lightning Vapes...both less than most sell 10-30ft forDelivery was slightly faster from lightning vapes, but that is simply due to where I live. Both were great suppliers

The most I paid, though was $1/3ft of 28awg from a vape shop...but that was to bring my order from $99 to $100 in order to qualify for free shipping, which would have been close to $10 otherwise.
