sadly, i have vaped in stores. But it was pretty funny how i pulled it off.

Not long ago i ruptured 2 discs in my back, so when i go to walmart i use one of those crappy scooter things.
Now picture, if you can...

My wife making choo-choo sounds while i ride around puffing.

a good time was had by all, then we found a train whistle in the toy dept...

management did stop and ask me if everything was ok, because frankly i was acting like some kind of loon, but when i told them i was just enjoying quitting smoking with my electronic cigarette the manager congratulated me and say keep on trucking!

A lot of people posting on the forums probably arent old enough to remember this but 25 years ago smokers smoked EVERYWHERE. I can remember walking through Lowes in the builders warehouse (the rest of the store looked like a showroom instead of a warehouse) and smoking. Fast food restaurants all had smoking sections, so did the teachers lounge at school, airports, airplanes, restaurants and just about anywhere else you can think of.

Back then I even smoked in grocery stores without even a sideways look from people. Many of the older ex-smokers on this forum can probably tell you similar stories that are hard to believe unless you grew up during those times but the vast majority of them are all true.

Slowly but surely those rights got taken away and smokers habitats have shrunk down to the point where most feel lucky if theyre relegated to small dark, smelly, corner that's hidden away from everyone's sight. That's if they're lucky. Many of them also face exorbitant insurance premiums and even unemployment from companies that refuse to make concessions to their addiction or even allow them the breaks required by law.

There's no need to convince those that have an "I vape everywhere because it isnt smoking attitude" of anything because were the ones who have it right. Allowing ourselves to only vape with smokers or in designated smoking sections makes us look just as dirty and just as guilty as smokers in the eyes of the rest of society.

Not only is that an extremely negative association to have but its also completely backwards since were actually doing something to better our health, enrich the lives of ourselves and our families and that gives us hope for a brighter future. I cant think of anything more positive than that. :)

Allowing ourselves to continue to think or act like a smoker in thought or in deed isnt postive for vaping as a community, our recovery or our own well being.

We should all, every one of us, be proud of the choices we've made in regards to vaping and NOT hide it like were doing something bad or something we should EVER feel guilty about.

That others are actually advocating we relegate ourselves willingly to such a small, dark, lonely, smelly corner is surprising and I think it shows either a serious lack of judgement or very little thought on the matter at all.

VAPE ON! VAPE STRONG! AND VAPE PROUD!

AMEN! And the angels sang!! ^^^ +1,000,000,000 ^^^

I remember those times. I didn't fight for smoking when they were banning it everywhere, I knew it was bad for me and those around me. I will fight for vaping.

I walk around with my eGo twist/Eternity (or Nova Mini) in public all the time. I am respectful and don't blow the vapor in people's faces though. I ask before I vape in restaurants/bars or Just just step outside....

I vape inside my apartment and my future in-laws.

I have vaped in the safety guys office to show him how it works and the it poses to risk to bystanders, but I still a "No" so I don't vape inside at work, besides I found out that I need the fresh air outside in order to get away from the stress inside...

I vape in public when legal to do so. Here in California there are quite a few laws regarding where you can and cannot smoke in public places. Since I have no overwhelming need for attention I keep a fairly low profile when vaping and observe the same regulations that affect smokers. The E-Power 14650 is stainless steel, but it's fairly small and not that noticeable except for the clouds of vapor.

I vape while driving, even at low speeds driving through town. I'll vape from the parking lot to the store. I'll vape inside the house depending on the company present. I vape walking on the sidewalks.

If anyone is curious I'm happy to tell them what I'm doing. I use unflavored juice most of the time which doesn't have the slightest scent to bystanders.

As a relative newbie, vaping 4 months, I'm still a little leery about busting out my PV in public. I vape in my car, and at home of course, but have only vaped inside one really public place. It was a game store and people were really cool if a little curious. I like vaping in the smoking area at work, because that's where all my smoker buddies are and it's nice to escape from my desk for a while.

I remember smoking in restaurants, supermarkets, arcades, etc. No one cared back then. Now everyone is hyper sensitive about cigarettes. We all tend to follow the laws regardless of common sense and some day will come when people will understand that vaping isn't smoking. Untill then I'll do the best I can to inform the uninformed :)

Been watching this thread off and on during my latest bout with insomnia. *sigh* Insomnia 1 Syl 0 Do I vape in public, yes. Do I stealth vape alot, yes. I do forget sometimes and take that big inhale and go, ut oh... then quickly french inhale turning it into a semi-stealth vape, although one of my friends said I look totally slutty when I do that. The reason for all the stealth vaping in public, least for me is the area I live in seems to be pretty darn hyper about anything and everything. Sometimes I get a few curious people and then I will educate as best I can and sometimes I have had a couple people straight out try and start a confrontation with me. I am fairly good at de-fusing situations but sometimes, when I am sorta just not in the mood to deal with it, I just pop-off something smart-aleck that confuses them and go on. One of my priceless ones I use, and your free to borrow it. Is I tell someone, who is acting hostile from the start, that it is my device that allows me to breathe earth air. That usually is accompanied by a funny look and them walking off. Points to anyone who realizes I stole that from the old movie Millennium with Kris Kristofferson in it. Other than that I sorta just want to vape in peace and be left alone and for the most part I am. I don't make a production out of it, but I don't exactly make it a dirty, little secret either, I've enough of those tyvm.

That got a bit longer winded than I cared for... blame it on lack of sleep,

Syl

Awesome!!

Unfortunately I'll never get to use it because no one ever confronts me.

Here in Texas the vape scene seems to be exploding, B&M's are opening up all over. At my job every week you see someone new with an e-cig. in the office we still go out to the smoking section to Vape...What used to be one person vaping has grown to 10-15 over the past few weeks.

As for me I vape all over. Target Walmart Albertsons Kroger, restaurants everywhere. I do like when people question what it is as I find it great to educate them....

I don't hide it outside. I do live in California where people are freaked out about everything. I don't openly vape at work <I haven't asked, but I do work for city government so I figure the answer would be no>. I will go to the restroom and vape away when I need to. I vape in my work truck all day long with a usb pass through. I went to a local Moose Lodge the other night and showed the bartender and the other patrons my new PV. She said I could vape inside all I wanted. I prefer to ask my friends if I can vape in their homes. Most of them are smokers that run outside to smoke any way and don't have a problem with it. They are very interested in my PV and the wonderful tasting juices - so I might be converting a few!

I don't mind educating people about my PV. I do see a lot of disposables for sale at the local smoke shops and gas stations, but no advanced kits/juices as of yet. Vaping hasn't really caught on to my little area of CA yet, so I won't pull my PV out at in a store or eatery and openly vape. As the old adage goes: there's power in numbers. I don't want to cause a stink with paranoid soccer moms at Target, so until I start seeing others vaping in the no smoking areas, I tend not to vape unless I ask first.

I do remember the days where smokers could light up anywhere. I'd like to see the same for vaping, and hopefully all smokers will convert over to vaping one day. Society then will have to find another pariah to shove in stinky corners.
