Here's what well be wicking our future e-liquid with in the year 2025! :p I got to see some of this stuff at my University today and (of course  the first thing that came to mind was our hobby) This material has the largest surface area of any man-made material thus far; it has a whopping 800 square meters per GRAM. I did the math for you guys to give you an idea, and that's like cramming 1/10 of a football field (endzones and all) into a petree dish (more like a small handful of COPYRIGHTDMCA). It's called UPSALITE and it's made of magnesium carbonate so it's very heat resistant too (Mg carbonate can be used to make diamonds), this awesome material can suck humidity straight out of the air much-less our e-liquid, [moderated]. Anyways I thought this would be a cool topic for us as I thought of you guys instead of any world saving ideas for this material :p. So far they don't think this stuff would be too expensive to produce, it just keeps getting better and better. I had this same idea for carbon nano-tubes, but it'd be like buying a used car to replace your wick lol. It's coming soon guys! Pretty soon we'll have nano-microwaves in our vaping devices too!

Here's a pic of Upsalite up close, and a small article on it below:

Is it conductive? Would it need to be "oxidized" to prevent shorts?
Nope! It's non-conductive which is good for wicks, and it wouldn't need to be oxidized as it is an oxidant lol. Upsalite wouldn't react with electricity at all, just an EXCELLENT juice transporter.

Wonder if it is brittle or could a small wick shaped piece of this stuff be wrapped with a coil?
We were allowed to touch it and it's a pretty strong material (so much stronger than the ceramic wicks), you could be pretty rough with it, it's alot like...regular blackboard chalk, so you might break it if you step on it/sit on it etc.

My hopes and dreams are that in another few years we have cigalikes that hit like our current RDAs ;) I could care less about wicking material, cotton is cheap and works like a charm

You can do that lol, I'm going to be super-vaping. 1mg nicotine because Ill be exhaling rainclouds :p
