Yes. I make coils just for the fun of it! I'm sitting here now watching TV, wrapping a coil. 24 ga using tobeco coil jig, shooting for one coil at 0.8 ohms evenly spaced!
I actually successfully rebuilt my first two protank 2 coils the other day. Aimed for 2ohms on one, got 2.2 and aimed for 1.8 on the second and got 1.7.
Much better than my first few attempts where the ohms we're reading like 6-8 lol.
Just figured out how to rebuild coils for regular tanks and i think I'm going to be doing that from now on instead of buying new ones because its cheaper and its kind of fun. Also i have my first mechanical mod on the way and i can't wait to start dripping on it.
I mainly stick to plain ole single coils on my Kayfuns and Protanks. I reserve Sunday as my wrapping day. Not doing anything anyway so I just sit in front of the tv and wrap away!
I just love how much money I am saving now. I can't bring myself to buy replacement coils anymore.
I've been building from the very beginning of my Vape journey. Got the blow torch and tweezers, now I just use a Kuro coiler, once you get the hang of it, perfect coils every time.
Yes, I make my own coils and micro coils. I've also made a few specialty coils as well. If your interested, YouTube has many many step by step tutorials. That's a great place to start to learn . Hope this helps. Best wishes and remember to be safe first and foremost! I'm sure you will learn in no time!
actually i use the "coil mster" its great & i can make 5 different sized coils ,,1mm,1.5,2,2.5,& a 3mm coil its the best thing out there in my opinion ,,all nice & tight looking coils
I rebuild my own. I can twist kanthal without a drill so it's easy to do. Plus I have a setup that makes wrapping perfect coils instead of using a screwdriver to wrap on,
I find it peaceful to rebuild.
I build my own coils. Still don't like doing it but it is a necessity for what I use. The only saving grace, a coil will last for months with careful cleaning and re-wicking.
One of the ones I had made in September died recently <insert moment of silence here> but it was fairly easy to make a new one and put it in the device. I still do not like small work but it's not toooo difficult. I also use the Artistic Wire coiler thingy to make my coils.
I get kind of twitchy/fidgety when working with small parts, so I can't really build extensively.
That said, I build some pretty nice macro/micro coils for the most part. I had a Clapton'd coil a friend made for me at one point, but it began misbehaving (I don't think all the leads were making contact with the post? Idk.)
I like to go mass surface-area on my builds, rocking a 14-wrap 26ga build in my Doge right now.
