I understand that it's a touchy subject. I just don't advocate "poking the bear", so to speak. An all out vaping ban, like most states have with smoking would suck. I envision a day where there will be "vape friendly" establishments. I know there already are, but it's kind of an ask for permission or forgiveness type situation. An all out ban would mean you couldn't even vape in vape shops, many of which have already invested in very nice lounges. Vaping is much more of a hobby than smoking, and it's nice to have places where vapers can get together and share there hobby. Cigars were very similar, and in my state, cigars are banned everywhere that cigarettes are, even cigar shops. I see vaping going the same way.
I'm a libertarian. I don't believe in smoking bans. I think private businesses should be able to allow whatever legal activity they want in their establishment. It would be awesome to be able to vape everywhere, but as more people do it, it just isn't a realistic expectation in today's nanny state. People will become annoyed by it. People will have "allergies" to it, or claim they can't breathe around it. People aren't going to want to sit behind a guy in a restaurant that looks like Thomas the Tank Engine. They will have government impose their will on us. By being relatively respectful about it now, we don't even give those people a chance to really get up in arms about it, and as it catches on businesses will pop up that are vape friendly. We have vape shops around here that are basically a liquor license away from being a place that I would love to hang out in on a weekend night.
