I sure do.... Every 2 tanks and I take mine apart and give it a thorough cleaning.

Yes I nuke some water in a cup in my microwave for 2 mins..Then I put the tank, mouthpiece, and
atomizer in and let them soak for an hour..They last longer that way, and the juice always tastes clean and fresh.

Hi Choochoo -- That's exactly why I changed from the coil types to the ceramic atomizer type. You really should try those
JoyeTech CCs. So easy to use and no messes either.
So i boiled my ce4 tank (i think it is)
And guess what happened when i put that plastic tip in
Boiling water for mine with even Vivi and x6 "Plastic Tanks" never an issue.
Same with RBA/RDA's maybe my kettle doesn't boil water as hot
I tend to clean my Protanks when I'm changing flavors, which is about every 2-3 days. I let the O-rings soak in vodka for 30-60 minutes, hot water never seems to get the scent of the previous flavor out entirely.

Hot water wash, actually running it THROUGH the coil head, blow through it a bit, more hot water.
I pile up "dirty" clearomizers til there's 4 or 5 of them, then wash 'em all out like that - just takes 3 minutes.
I have more that I use while they're waiting and/or drying. I let them dry usually overnight, then reassemble, and they're in the "ready" line. LOL - I have a lot of clearo's.
And now, I'm sort of shifting over to carto-tanks...

I have a couple of the original Protanks that I haven't used in months, so I decided to give them a good clean and try them out again (Hell, I paid for them). I've been using Evods for quite a while, so I'm familiar with cleaning the heads on those.
When I took apart the PT heads (I remove the burnt flavor wicks, dry burn, then soak in vodka, and replace the flavor wicks), I found that O-ring that you mentioned (that really thin rubbery ring that sits above the wicks and around the base of the rubber/silicone stopper that goes over the post and seals the gap in the wick opening of the head).
As Evods don't have them and they're both BCCs, what the heck is the purpose of it? I frequently got burning and/or gurgling on the PT (that's why I stopped using them), so do I really need them?
I add 1mm of silica above the existing flavor wicks of Evods, which solves the gurgling, and I plan on doing that with the PT heads, do I need to use that O-Ring anyway?

Yep I know EXACTLY what you mean; those people who talk about it are people with sharp eyes and probably fine fingers.
That's why I think the future will look more like the 'cartos' which instead of a thin wick running through the coil, has a big wad of stuff on the coil.
The silicone cap is used on both the Protank and Evod heads. It's purpose is to seal the head to the tube in the cap, preventing seepage. If you need more wicking, you can flip it upside down to increase the wicking area while still keeping the seal.

in the one on the right i pulled off the ring he is talking about and dragged it lower down.
personally i think it is an attempt to reduce the tendency of the tank to leak.
but i don't like them so close the hot coil.
Do they eventually burn out for you? Or just that the wick itself becomes useless? Or maybe the coil becomes to gunked up ?
So far I've busted 3 while trying to clean them.
Hey, Sirius, thank you for your suggestion about the ceramic atomizer. Briefly checked them out; and thought, "uh oh, no pretty colored glass to match with my wonderful looking drip tips!" Being a GIRL that is a very serious matter. Do clean tanks after every fill and put the coil in 98% pure grain alcohol over night. Those $2 or less tips manage to last me a couple weeks or month depending on the liquid I'm vaping. Figured the cost in analogues, and decided I'd pay the price for beauty! Right now have "Christmastime" on mini Davide with green glass on bronze mini ProVari.......It keeps me interested and vaping!

I wash them out every 2-3 tank. When they start to act up. I switch them out and put the old in a bag. Every so often I take the heads out of the bag and dry bunr each for about 15 seconds for a total of 2 minutes. Then I put them in white viniger for about 1/2 day, then I boil them for about two hours. The heads respond like new, with about 20% not working. So may be my dry burn is to long.
YES is have burnt a couple already while attempting dry burns; I suspect anytime your coil starts to glow red thats the time to stop dry burn.
waita minute you didnt mention anything about wicks...
ceramic atomiser? I have not heard of this; the joytech atomisers are ceramic somewhere?
Daily I dump the last bit of juice that has thickened and darkened up, and use pipe cleaners to clean out the tank. I also run a pipe cleaner through the tip and tube to clean it out.
As far as the coil....once a week, or sooner if it starts tasting like an ashtray or reduces vapor volume....I toss the old one and put in a new one. At $6 for 5 of them, it's simply not worth the effort to try and clean it. A nice new coil weekly or sooner if needed, is something I consider a "consumable" and like juice, is just the cost of vaping. Trying to clean these things and save $2 a month is not what I consider a worthwhile effort.

I occasionally break down my tanks and pull the coils. I drop them in hot water with rubbing alcohol overnight. In the morning I rinse them again with warm water dry and reassemble all the tanks, and let the coils and wicks dry for a few hours. The water/alcohol has a dingy color until I keep rinsing, so I assume it gets most of the gunk out. The vape is right back to normal after a few vapes with a mild aftertaste of another left over flavor.
I have been stuck out on an oil rig with cruddy CE4s and got 2 coils to last 3 weeks each. When the wicks fall apart I toss them. Now I just give my used coils to another vaper on the rig. For every 2 coils I give him he returns one clean and dry burned coil that works. He is on a tight budget so Its a good way to keep us both vaping.
