I suggest you get a Doc for that reaming job. I would feel more comfortable contracting someone with extraordinary expertise in finessing bungholes. I hear one may be locally available for special projects such as this.
oh, absolutely....and he uses leftover corn husks for the reaming procedures....care to be the next test subject?

I love them for their clouds of billowing vapor....on long lasting rechargeable battery power and HUGE carts....but the several I've owned have not shown me a track record of long term reliable performance. Shawn recently replaced one for me and THAT ONE is now almost totally dead. I don't want to bug him for another replacement, because I feel he has gone out of his way to be a standup guy....and I don't want to cut into his profits any further. I think it's a mistake to even stock or sell them to begin with. They are just too darn expensive for a THROWAWAY device! Even buyng just a replacement pipe body is not cost effective, due to the unpredictability of atty lifespan. DAWGHOUSE has also had his share of bad luck with the DES601 EPIPE, so I'm definitely not the only one who has been plagued with bad luck.
I purchased 2 others that have been fine, but I've not had them long enough to really say they have any kind of track record as of yet. Bottom line is they need to be better designed.......the thing that needs to change is that it NEEDS an easily removeable/replaceable atty. It would also be a much better PV with a small MANUAL tact SWITCH.
At this time, there are probably NO ATOMIZERS (attys) in existence with a predictably long lifespan...but be that as it may, ALL PV devices should have an option for quick and painless atty replacement.....and even if the replacement atty only lasts 2-3 weeks, they can be priced ACCORDINGLY to their lifespan.
At this time I cannot recommend the DSE601 Epipe, unless you are a wealthy individual with MONEY TO BURN. Some people have great luck with them and I only wish I could say the same. AS much as I DO LOVE USING THEM....I have to just STOP buying them and consider other more reliable/renewable options. I really enjoy epipe vaping (much more than ecigs), but in terms of cost effectiveness, my affliction with the DSE601 has to END. When these ones die, I just have to forget about them and move on without them. Too much money wasted on them already! The manufacturer NEEDS to GET REAL and make them with affordably replaceable attys...otherwise I'm washing my hands of this beautifly crafted piece of junk (such a shame).
Today I completely disassembled my nearly dead DSE601 (this was neither quick nor easy to do without destroying it) and I saw no point in going through this tedious hassle just to rebuild the existing atty......which would be just as hard to remove when it dies again......so I converted it to use a threaded (screw-on) VX2 atty. It works as good as any VX2 but with some added performance benefits and the look of a full sized pipe. Although it does look somewhat silly, it benefits BIG TIME from the large capacity 900mAh EPIPE BATTERY and epoxy sealed VX2 power connector. It is now perfect for marathon dripping and it will NEVER AGAIN get clogged. Amazing what can be done with a bit of solder, epoxy and miscellaneous salvaged parts. The black plastic piece between the (inferno red) VX2 atty and brass ring.......is the shell from a cheap DIY CB/HAM mic DIN plug kit. I simply trimmed it for a perfect fit on my bench sander out in the garage. The original stainless steel cylinder inside the DSE601 was also cut shorter and deburred for a perfect fit. Two resized bushings (plastic & delrin) were also used to adapt the VX2 brass atty connector to the much larger stainless steel cylinder of the DSE601. I made several 6-minute epoxy mixes for the various custom-fitted reassembly steps. SILLY lookin' thing, but now I can replace the atty in a matter of seconds and it sure works well with VX2 carts...OR for trouble-free mega dripping. Many of the BUNGHOLES who were harassing me yesterday would have just discarded the pipe altogether LOL. I'm glad I made the effort, because this thing is now built to last for a very long time to come.

Thanks. I just could'nt see another DES601 tossed into the trash....and I'm not going to keep bugging Shawn to replace an item that is essentially a crap shoot in terms of overall longevity.

It's ugly and I only use it at home on a rare occasion now. It needs some working on, and WOULD be my fave, yet it is just to unreliable. I like to take maybe TWO devices with me at all times. If I take the pipe, I had to bring a basic kit of juice, spare battery, and 2 stand by PVs for back up.

That one that works ONLY in the clean mode....all it needs is a manual switch (EASY MOD). drill 1 or 2 tiny holes near the upper gold contacts, solder small wires to the contacts, then use epoxy or tiny self tapping screws to mount a tiny tact switch or other small momentary switch on the left side of the bowl. With attention to detail it can be done very neatly in about 10 minutes.

Last season I spent BUKU BUCKS on parts (I beat my bike too much), so I had to spend a wee bit LESS on another jacket, so I went with the Rocket. NOTHING wrong with ICON

For summer riding, what ELSE would you want to use? OF COURSE it's mesh.....with liner & spine protector! I have 2 other jackets for cooler weather...but I wouldn't wear either of them in the steamy weather we've been having lately...that would be even crazier than I AM

HELL NO I'm not tearing apart someone else's DSE601 EPIPE!!!! That's TOO MUCH WORK!!!
YOU GET IT APART (without breaking it of course) THEN send me a PM!!! I'd be glad to reassemble it & wire it.....but safely getting it apart is not a job I cherish in the slightest bit! It took me FOREVER to get mine apart and I was getting ready to take it out to the garage to meet one of my sledgehammers! Good thing that white battery holder slug came out when it did. It came very close to getting SMASHED!!

LOL! No, I meant just drilling the holes and soddering the contacts and putting on a manual button. Hell, if I can find a small enough bit I might give it a go myself... but man my soddering sucks. Is there a strong conductive glue or epoxy I can use instead of sodder?
No, there is no substitute for a good solder connection....which can be insulated with small gauge shrink tubing. Soldering is not that hard to learn with just a little practice. The only thing required is a good quality iron (of the RIGHT SIZE AND POWER OUTPUT) and some good rosin core solder of the correct gauge. For occasional soldering, you can just use a sponge or wet blue shop towel to keep the tip clean in between solder joints. Most people are easily capable of decent soldering. The only two handicaps that might be limiting factors are terrible eyesight and very shaky hands. If you don't have one of these two conditions it should not be very hard to learn pretty quickly. As long as EVERYTHING INVOLVED is clean and you tin the tip before attempting a joint, it really should be quite easy with just a bit of practice. Always tin wires that you intend to join together...BEFORE attempting to join them. be sure to reheat it and shake off any excess solder by flicking it towards the workbench. Always wear eye protection. I always slide a trimmed piece of shrink tubing down the wire BEFORE joining 2 wires. After the joint cools I slide it over the joint and shrink it with my heat gun.

lol, that guy was talking crap about icon... i have a 6 year old icon jacket and its still kickin(1 wreck and 3 broken zippers) but still working. i was getting defensive because he related icon to squids... and i run low 1:40's at auto park speedway..
my buddy had mesh, and the shoulder pad shifted and the mesh melted through and turnd his upper shoulder into a hot rasberry.
it it 100 degrees here, and tops out at 110 ish, and i still wear leather....because of what happened to him.
yea i get to my destination a little "moist" but i feel "safer".
