I went to the doctor today to have my hemorr... skip that part!
I decided to use my 401 - filled with Johnson Creek Arctic Mint - in his office while I was waiting. I didn't dare use it in reception, because I didn't want to get involved in any confrontations. His office is quite small, so I wanted to see if he'd notice any odour when he opened the door. He didn't, even after I told him that I had been using it.
He had never heard of e-cigs, so I showed him the atomizer and explained how the technology works. He was very open about it. I puffed it in front of him, and he was surprised by the vapor but said that he couldn't smell anything from it - only when I removed the cart could he smell the juice.
He agreed that PG is generally considered safe, and he even mentioned that nicotine, besides the addiction factor, is not the evil drug that it's made out to be compared to all the dangers from carcinogens in tobacco smoke. I'm only using zero nic, so he was pleased with that.
Since this is still a relatively new product, we agreed that there needs to be further studies to test the health effects, but he agreed with me that it seemed ludicrous for Health Canada to ban nicotine juice by classifying it as a new drug. These devices, just by looking at the ingredients, are obviously far better to use than analogues. Shouldn't the goal be harm reduction?
So, he told me he had absolutely no problem with me enjoying my e-cig at the moment. What a cool doctor.
Next, the dentist.
