Well, not my doctor, but my husband's.
He went to his pulmonologist today for his asthma and I tagged along, mainly to ask about the e-cigarette.

When he was done with the exam, I asked if he knew about it and if so what his thoughts were.

He said, " I know about them and think they are a great idea, my only problem is 13 year olds getting ahold of them."

Of course I went on to ask, just how many 13 year olds might have a credit card to be able to buy them or the price it costs to get started.
Also told him I did not think anyone starts out because they are addicted to nicotine, most start smoking because it is "cool" or their friends do it.

In the end he totally agreed with me and said even without testing from what he knows it is totally safe (except the nicotine, which is not good on the heart).

Just thought I would add my story.

Really picked up my day.
I am just trying to get agreeable information out there on our side.
At least get it into the minds of people that may be ableto help us down the road.
Keep it on the forefront and in the minds of these doctors (trying to get patients to quit),and bashing their heads against walls when all else seem to fail.

I think, from what I have seen from the doctors I have already asked.
I would say over 90% think this is the greatest to come along in forever.

They said they have never seen people quit this fast and with so little withdraw. Also last as long as they have only using this little thing (compared to the pain in the ... patches)

The more we ask our doctors how they feel, the more people we will have on our side...
so everytime you go to a different doctor.....remember to bring it up, get their ideas of the pros snd cons.
Maybe we do have a fighting chance here.
The more doctors we can get thinking about (and even reccomending them), on our side the better chance we might have at things.

My wife and I are both physician's and advocates of e cigs. I believe MD advocates will play a very important role in keeping e cigs in the free market. Are there other docs on the forum?

I posted the following on my petition signature:

Science and objectivity must rule in the medical profession. Although not yet fully studied, using evidence we have regarding smoking, smoking cessation, smoking cessation products already studied, the psychology of addiction and the components of an electronic cigarette one should easily come to the conclusion that electronic cigarettes are likely to play an important role in safe smoking alternatives. Any restriction on the non medical market of these devices will hinder the development of these products. It will ultimately require the free market to determine which devices most resemble the real culprit. Please allow this groundbreaking health revolution to continue.

I would like to get a group of physicians together to put some credibility into the safer alternative. The FDA can conduct it's studies so that the e cig can be used medically. I already recommend e cigs in my practice as a safer alternative. I admit to my patients that the science is not available to prove the efficacy as a smoking cessation product, but I also tell them that I am certain that they are safer alternatives. Any conclusion otherwise would be turning a blind eye to the overwhelming evidence that already exists concerning combustible tobacco products.

You know what kills activists?...

The truth.

Reality is not part of the world they live in. So they end-up protecting a world that doesn't exist, from a problem that doesn't exist, to save millions of lives that don't exist.

Time to hold the FDA accountable for our losses. They are wasting our money directly, and now indirectly too. Without proof of harm, without justification for actions, without proof of the end-user recipients intended use, and without filing for a ruling from the supreme court, for this "National Issue". (If it were actually that much of a "National Issue", they would need permission. To get permission, they need proof. To get proof, they need to do tests. To do tests, they need to know actual use. To know actual use, they need confirmed reports of serious health issues. Where is all this? Can you say, abuse of power?)

I have been a Chiropractic Doctor for 22 years,
& smoked Marlboro ultras for the last 14 years-
until 2 weeks ago when I got my 510.
My personal vaping experiment is almost unbelievably successful thus far--zero desire for analogs!
Will be sharing my story not only with my patients, but every smoker I meet.
In my estimate, the future of vaping has little or nothing to do with the FDA,
& more to do with large numbers of people vaping & breaking the tobacco addiction.
