You would be amazed at what modern technology can do.

And keyboard communication is also an option if it is really that bad.

Good that your wife can go with her to appointments.

We have modern technology here. Some of it amazes me but not hearing aids. Keyboards are out as she isn't close to steady enough to use one effectively nor does she type at all. It's good that my wife spends a great deal of her time and money to help her mother's every whim. Communicating with her by writing is a very slow process. The best I've came up with is a cheap Radio Shack amplifier with earphones from a cd player. Thanks for you guys being concerned enough to comment.

To my knowledge there has been no protocal on ecigs. Medscape- Aphp -cochrane all have positive and "wait and see" reccomendations (much to the chagrin of others) few drs like or believe AMA anymore. Drs are clinicians and are focused on what works in the real world. If hes seen someone improve, hell reccomend it to the next. No malpractice. Thats stupid.

Swelling is often circulation/cardiac issues at that age. If she was 50 or younger there might be reason to look elsewhere.

Cig-a-likes are definitely the most practical vape option for the elderly. They don't want to have to mess with tanks and atty's and batteries and bottles of juice,, etc.

I ordered her a couple of automatic Volts last night with blank cartridges you can fill with your own juice. Plus about 5 different tobaccos from Vape Wild
VAPE WILD | Best E-Juice Shop, Free Shipping, Free E Cigarette Liquid

They look pretty good from prices and reviews. 15% off til the 25th. MIL is just gonna have to find the right juice now. I know at least a half dozen 70 plus girls who you would have to fight for their Tanks and atty's and batteries and bottles of juice, etc. They would probably laugh at your reasoning

Might be better if we would use the term "multiply handicapped" There is a thread around here where a guy is looking for the right setup for his brother with muscular dystrophy.

My MIL got her Volt kit today and I filled a cartridge with Vape Wild's lite Tobacco and she likes it! Hope she keeps usin it. I'll check on her this weekend and order a 60 mil bottle for her. I got 5 cartridges that I can fill if she's not able to. BTW the juice from Vape Wild is incredible, especially at 6.99/30 mil and with a 15% discount sale goin on now it's only 5.95. Plus they sent me 4 free 10 ml bottles with just a 100 ml order. I highly recommend them. I'm placing another order now. I'm not gonna diy when I can get this good of juice at these prices.

Well Mama ( my MIL) loves her Volts and the VapeWild Light Tobacco. She has cut way down on her cigs and vapin more and more everyday. I got her a 60 mil bottle of juice so she should be good for awhile. She used to leave lit cigarettes everywhere and go to sleep with them in her hand. Now I don't have to worry as much. I thank everybody for their suggestions, it really helped steer me in the right direction.
