Does a 1a usb charger charge an ego passthrough quicker than 500ma?

Phones will typically only try to pull 500ma or less from a computer since that's the usb spec. But they can pull 1000ma/1A or more if plugged into a charger because the charger has a special way* of telling the phone it's a charger and not a pc. Will an ego passthrough charge quicker if I stick it on a 1a phone charger than it would plugged into my pc? Or does it only pull 500ma or less from any source? If I want a quick charge should I bother or will it not matter?

*shorted data pins to each other or ground I believe. Iphone usb chargers have their own way and everyone else has another. Plug an iphone into a 1a android/blackberry charger and it will only pull 500ma max. same if you plug an android/bb into an iphone usb charger.

You can feed the charger any amount of current you like... but the circuit inside the charger will limit the amount reaching the battery to a maximum of 420 mA. A 500 mA charger is perfectly suited to charging an eGo battery.

Providing a 1A (1000 mA) supply to the charger will not make the battery charge any faster.

Not applicable here. As scuba4steve said the charger dongle is in control. An eGo charger feeds a max current to the battery of 420 mA. Connecting the charger dongle to a higher output 1 amp AC adapter won't change the 420 mA current the charger feeds to the battery.

... not only that, it is wise to use what came with the equipment. To do otherwise is just asking for the possibility of an accident to happen!

Also I'd like to add that since we're talking about a pass-thru the USB cable you use also comes into play. If you are using a USB 1.0 cable I think the max you can pull is 4-500mA where as with a USB 1.1/2.0 cable you can pull up to 1A depending on your power source.
