This for me is hands down the worst part of my LT. I don't know what they were thinking with these little nubs at the end. The way the plastic cover of the actual battery cap is molded almost makes them sharp. I personally think it ruins the feel of the entire device when your holding it. I am really considering just finding a file and grinding them down until they are all flush. Ya I understand that they help the device not roll but the way it digs into your hand when you hold it sucks.

I haven't had it dig into my hand but I agree the plastic cap could be better..for the price I paid I can't complain much though. If the pics I'm seeing of the newer chrome and SS ones coming are real the top and bottom cap will be/look a lot better on them. I also remember reading something about someone using a different cap from a different device on 1..I also saw a pic of one where someone removed the plastic and just used the aluminum part on one.

I seen a video last night were a guy broke his top cap so he replaced both the bottom and top with buzz pro caps. The top took some Modding but the battery cap was just screw on.

You are 100% right about the price, but man this horrible battery cap. Ya I think its just going to hit the grinder, I may have to do it by hand as I think the heat from friction may deform or crack the plastic just enough that it wont adhere to the metal cap. I'll post pictures.

I would say use a rotary style tool with a cutoff wheel on a low speed if you have access to one. I just made a plastic switch plate for a low voltage Remcon switches..they have an odd shape it came out not too bad..when I went too fast it melted a little but if you don't it cuts ok...

I think ill just do it by hand, I want it to be perfectly flush and I have a feeling ill overshoot the cut with my dremel. The nubs are so tiny though, I believe I can just knock them back with a finishing file and have it come out the best possible way.

That will probably work ok..might leave small file marks though but they probably wouldn't be very noticeable..if you screw it up you probably could fabricate something to go over the plastic cap..cut away more of it and glue it to the plastic. But if you ever did something like that don't glue it to the aluminum unless you open up a good sized hole to match the holes there because that cap is designed to blow off in case of a battery vent.

This is how the cap should have came in the first place. It feels so much better in the palm of your hand. Rolling is still a non issue as I predicted, my desk is level and if it should try and roll the buttons keep it from going anywhere. Took me about 5 minutes to file these down and finish with a fine emery board. I love my LT this much more now! Sorry for the picture quality, just snapped these with my phone real quick.

that looks pretty good.

haven't had issues with mine digging in. I don't grab it hard though... mostly just with thumb/index, with the rest of the fingers just resting on top of it.
I got small hands so I'm sure it helps with the situation.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I guess I just hold mine funny, those damn razor nubs of death always seemed to be digging into my palm. Anyway its great now. Its nice and smooth and looks clean and sleek. I don't have any problems with it rolling and it still stands up fine. It was a great simple little mod.
